BCS is out --- Auburn is No. 1

I can only hope we are 10-1, ranked #4-5 and the barn is 11-0 ranked #1.

We win and move up to 2 or 3. Then win the SEC title and move up to #1 or 2 because the other teams will have a week off.

I still think the schedule sets up perfectly for us to be in the BCSNCG.

I just dont see boise, TCU, UTAH, Mich. st or Missou playing for the national title even if one or more of them do win out. Bama will jump them because no one is going to vote a team like Mich st to play for the title because they just do not have that football tradition of a team like Bama nor the schedule we have.

Of course TCU was one sec away from playing us for it all last year.

Good for them. And good for us as well.

If we win out and they win out, it will set up the perfect storm for us in Tuscaloosa. At this point, we can't ask for anything more or anything better.

Well, could this be the week the right Reverend Nutt pulls one out of his backside and upsets #1? Highly unlikely but living here in North MS, I could handle it. Hope springs eternal but it is not likely to happen. But, David did kill Goliath

if, if, IF it came down to oregon and the barn, that would be quite a scoring affair

It wouldn't be a scoring affair for Auburn. Oregon has a very fast and skilled defense. Score would likley be something like 45 - 17 Ducks. Actually, I hope we beat Auburn, go to the SECCG and win it, and then go to the Sugar Bowl and play TCU or someone like that and end up ranked #2 at 13-1. I think if we advance to the BCS game and meet the Ducks, we end up 12-2 and ranked about 7th or 8th, and a 1 loss Auburn may be ranked ahead of us in the final poll. Unless we can play a full game like we played the 2nd half against Tennessee, the Ducks would smoke our young defense. JMO.

On the other hand, Auburn better watch out for one of the hottest teams in the East right now, UGA. That one may be a track meet too.

The Tenn game hurt Bama in the BCS Poll...They went from .7340 (week 1) to .7100 (week 2). You play weak teams & it hurts in computer part of BCS Poll.

All Bama fans should be pulling for any team Bama has played & will play this year. The better these teams do, the better Bama does in the computer part of the BCS.

All Bama fans should be rooting for any team playing a team above Bama in the BCS Poll. That means Bama fans need to be rooting for Lane Kiffin's USC team next week. That also means Bama fans need to hope Auburn wins out till Bama beats them.

If that's the case then Aubarn should drop some points the next two weeks. They play Ole Miss and then UT Chat.

And don't get me started on Boise State.

Yes Auburn will lose some computer points next 2 weeks.

Yes it is not Bama's fault Tenn isn't good. But neither is it Boise State's fault every team they play from now on out is worse than Tenn (besides Nevada right now).

Boise State will start a slow slide backwards in the BCS Poll computer part & the BCS Poll from here on out. Nothing they can do about it.

Does strength of victory even matter? We beat Tennessee worse than any other team this year except for Oregon...that's got to count for something. Are we really being penalized because Tennessee is on our schedule...I mean it's a classic SEC rivalry.

it can hurt us all it wants I wouldn't change playing Ut every year for anything.

it's a rarity an sec opponent hurts your SOS. like someone said earlier when this was mentioned if the win hurt .. then imagine what a loss would have done lol.

Did you seriously just say that you would rather play in the Sugar Bowl than in the BCSNCG? Are you kidding? How long have you been a Bama fan? Bama's tradition was not made by ducking(no pun intended) people who may beat us. I have my doubts that we are good enough to win the rest of our games, but, if we do, I say bring on the Ducks or anyone else in the championship game. True Bama fans want to play for titles; they don't worry about the best way to finish second. That sounds more like an Auburn fan to me.

Very interesting, what you've said here.

I had not thought of this. I was about ready to pull for Nutt and Ole Miss this week. But what good would it do for Ole Miss to beat Auburn, if all that's going to do is reduce Auburn's standing, which in turn would pull down our point-total for beating them, thus possibly ruining our chances of out-pointing some of these other teams, such as the mighty Boise State, TCU, or Missouri?

I thought it was crazy when the 1965 Bama team won the national championship after getting beat by Georgia and then tying Tennessee. Then there was not so much as a gleam in anyone's eye as to something called 'the BCS.'

Back then there WAS such a thing as the Government paying farmers NOT to grow cotton.

I tell you what would be crazy -- a group of Bama fans go to the Ole Miss-Auburn game and root for Auburn.

There is at least one big IF leading up to this scenario of a game at Tuscaloosa between an unbeaten, #1 Auburn and a one-loss Bama team. We have to take care of business first in Baton Rouge. But if this indeed does shake out this way, I can't remember a bigger Alabama-Auburn game.

An Iron Bowl on steroids.

You know, Cam Newton is something else. But the match-up between him and the Alabama front-seven would seem to be pretty good for Bama. It could hinge upon how well our DB's are prepared to cover their wide-outs. Our front seven is about as tough as any Cam Newton will have faced all year. That running through front sevens is what he does that is so impressive. We had trouble with Spurrier's scheme of pass-run, run-pass. Can Newton create that same scenario as a one-man gang? Or do we focus on him enough to shut his pass-run options down?

I know -- we can't look ahead like that. But to win it all, we would ultimately have to shut down Newton.

LSU will be out for blood against Alabama. Got to take care of business there.

The BCS removed the margin of victory from the BCS Poll computer part. But as always margin of victory influences the human polls (Coach's & Harris).

Exactly, and, all other teams ranked above Bama need a loss between now and the end of the season!

Bama doesn't HAVE to finish #1 in the BCS Poll in the final regular season poll. Bama just has to finish the regular season #2 in the final regular season BCS Poll. They get into the BCS Championship game & then Bama can win it on the field. The object for Bama right now is just get to #2 BCS Poll, but #1 fits Bama very very well.
