Best Jersey Number In Alabama History?

12 or 22 on offense, and 54 on defense.
I still think, number 22, Johnny Musso, was the best overall football player to ever play at Bama.
Namath, Snake, and Leroy were very, very close seconds.
Guess I'm an old timer :)

I totally agree about the Johnny Musso comment, I saw him several times at Legion Field and you can find another player that gave it all 100% of the time. For you younger fans. Vinnie Sunseri come to mind as to how hard Musso played, but Johnny talent level was much better than Vinnie. So its has to be 22. Hopefully this new SEC network will find some of the 70's games in which he would not be stopped and replay them . The wishbone was a thing of beauty.

I thought Pat Trammel also wore number 12. He was my greatest hero. I would go with 12 in any case.

Good to see you posting

I have a feeling if we were considering this 10-20 years from now that #10 would be a pretty popular pick.

3 NC rings!

Even now I don't get the AJ annomosity from our fans, but in it'll take years, if ever, for someone to surpass his accomplishments.

As for now #22 is hard to beat! Two of my favorites Tony Nathan and Mark Ingram!!!

Concerning #10, I forgot about Steadman Shealy who backed up Jeff Rutledge on the '78 NC team and then started in "79 -- another NC.

So that would be at least 5 NC between him and AJ.

For me...22. I want to say that Musso and Sullivan were in the same HS class. Musso went to Bama and Sullivan to some cow college. Sullivan won a Heisman but Bama got the better player. Man, he was an effort player if there ever was one.
