Best tv service for watching live tv

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

I am moving this month and am currently trying to find out what tv service I want to go with. I have many shows I like to watch on my local stations on NBC, CBS, etc. I also have to have live sports. I have to be able to watch my football and braves baseball games and golf (especially the majors that usually come on NBC or Fox). I thought about getting Directv or ATT Uverse, but have started looking at some streaming services like YouTube tv. I am used to Directv and would love to still be able to record all my shows and watch when I can and to be able to fast forward and pause live tv like I can with Directv. I don't however love the price I have to pay to be able to get some the channels I like to watch.

I am not used to this streaming tv business, but it might be an option for me and something I can get used to. I'm just curious what you all use and what you would recommend.

Also, if I do get Youtube tv and watch the Braves games, would I still be listening to the Braves announcers or would it be some youtube announcers? I watched a Braves game online last season on youtube and I didn't like the announcers on there. I prefer listening to the everyday braves announcers.

And how strong of internet connection will I need?

We just went through this the last few months. We settled on a combination of hulu live and philo. We get channels between the 2 that has what all my family watches. Plus local channels. We are very pleased and saving lots of money too compared to what we had.

I usually only watch CBS, ABC, Fox, NBC, ESPN (all of them), Hallmark, ID, Oxygen, Food Network, HGTV, TNT, TBS, TLC, QVC. I just have to have my live sports and be able to record so I can watch later.

I would get Charter or Xfinity but it is not available where I am moving. I think Mediacom is the only cable option.
In my NJ home, service electric is the only cable option. Tiny company, but better than the internet services around there.

I left ATT Uvision on their next to the last price increase. My service went from $139 to over $200 in one month.
I went to YoutubeTV and a Roku Stick.
It took about a week to get used to the change.
I paid about $50 for the RokuStick + and I pay $50 a month for Youtube TV. Great service and more than $150 a month less than ATT...
I wish I had done it a couple of years ago...
Come on in, the waters fine...

I am able to forward through commercials, record all my shows for later viewing, and pause live tv like Directv, correct?

And I am able to watch shows on CBS or NBC the same day they air, correct?

You can also get a digital antenna for local channels. Check with AT&T to see what kind of deal they will give you if you bundle everything. I have U-Verse and just can't make myself cut the cord. Good luck.
