Best/Worst case scenarios

It's halfway through the SEC baseball season. We are 2 games out of the race for the tourney. Considering how dissapointing this season has been at times, that's not too far out. However, we still haven't played LSU, USC, or UT. By all means we have a chance at making the SEC tourney, it just won't be easy. UF didn't make the SEC tourney last year, but did make the NCAA's. I believe that is the first time it has ever happened.

Bo, Alabama doesnt play Tennessee this year.

We have to finish 10-5 I think. This year wont be like most where 6 West and 2 East go. There is not enough room for Alabama and Miss State I don't think. Good thing BAMA gets MSU at home last series of the year.

Richard and others,

I love doing this type of guessing each weekend from now on to see who gets in the SEC Tourney and who is out. For Bama to get in the tourney and defend our 2003 SEC Championship, they MUST WIN THIS SERIES over SC and hope for the best.

This season reminds me of 2001. We lost the Tie Breaker to AU after finishing 15-15 in the SEC. (UGH) We had to stay home from Hoover to watch AUB go 0-2. (How wonderful)

Last year, we were in this similar situation against MS State. We had to win 1 game and hope KY beats FLA on Sunday and things went our way. KY beat FLA that day and we got in and won 4 games and now here we go again.

I think we can get in, if we start winning ballgames. Maybe, Sunday's game gave them a spark of confidence.

Tomorrow, I will put up a schedule for the rest of the SEC season of who plays who.

I think we got a shot and Bama can take SC, Vandy, or FLA out of the SEC Tourney race. There are 18 games left and we need to start winning.

'Auburn' is not in my Vocabulary!

23-16, 5-10 SEC

Currently there are only two mid-week games left, Cenetary and MissValleyState, two games that the tide should handle rather easily

Mid Week: 2-0

3 @ USC--- my guess 1-2, could even get swept unless we get a great pitching performance. USC is a world series contender and in their tiny park the tide is at a huge disadvantage. Tide relies a great deal on pitching, but south carolina has some big boppers in that lineup and a tiny park to boot. Id be happy getting 1, be down right amazed to get 2, and wouldnt be suprised at all to see USC sweep.

3 @ LSU- again 1-2, perhaps another sweep. LSU has everyone back off last years team, and play that much tougher in Baton Rouge. Add to the fact that Bama has always had a tough time dealing with LSU(met not included)and anything but a sweep would be a success

3 vs FLA- if the tide is serious about the post-season getting at least 2 is a MUST. I think this is a possibility against FLA but they'd have to play better than they've played so far this season. they'll get one for sure, but two is needed badly

3 @ Kenty- kentucky is improved, and the tide hasnt won a road series in a long long long time, but getting 2 from kenty has got to happen. kentucky doesnt have the strength to sweep bama and i look for 3 very closely played games, with the tide needing to find a way to 2 of them

3 vs MissSt- all very winable games, this series could very well determine who gets in the tourney, or it could mean nothing at all

my guess
1-2 @ USC
0-3 @ LSU
2-1 @ FLA
2-1 @ KEN
2-1 @ MSU

that would put the tide 32-24, 12-18 in the SEC. To get into the post-season you'll have to get to at least 14 wins but mostly likely it'll take 15 this year. After seeing this team play right at 40 games this year, they'd have to show me something they havent shown yet to make it to the Met

With the lack of focus, determination and "want to" this team is showing now... don't expect it. They have the talent, but don't seem to want it right now.

I agree this team has not shown the it will make any post season play. Wells performance
over the past few years has slipped compared to the first part of his career at Bama. Could it be he has become complacent?
