I've always known this was some world class gaslighting.

But now the defending bought and paid for national champions affirm it:

Texas reportedly nixed Ohio State's idea of playing Week 1 game on Sunday night - Yahoo Sports

So I guess we now have evidence that "Big Ten teams are afraid to play down south in the August heat" because they want to move it to a night game. And yes, I'm mostly just making fun of these folks. But we all know what would be said if the situation was reversed, too.

Wait, is it hot and humid in Tejas in August?

@selmaborntidefan this isn’t your best, man
True.

But it's my fault.

1) I don't even keep up with the sport they killed. I didn't even know we played FSU this year much less opened with them. I'm contributing on the Braves threads, but I won't be in game threads this fall, I couldn't care less. And no, it's not "Saban left and we're bad," I was watching in 2000 when we went 3-9 and felt every painful moment of it. But what we have now isn't the game I loved, it's burlesque.

2) I naively assumed the reason Texas would have a say and Ohio St would complain was that the game must be in Austin.

But I'll still betcha they'll try to get that game at night even if it's behind the scenes.

I still have not decided whether or not I renew YouTube TV once football starts. The idiots in charge are about to ruin basketball even more by adding 8 more teams to the NCAA Tournament. I find myself caring less and less everyday.

I have NO REASON to watch college football, even if Kalen DeBoer is the next Nick Saban.

Right now we have players basically jumping ship or conspiring to make sure a teammate plays.

How long until some resentful guy finds a few "underpaid" teammates to fix the outcome of the game?

How long until some quarterback with Deion Sanders Syndrome decides to just start calling his own plays?

And for the "but everyone was always paid," there's a HUGE difference between giving Eric Ramsey (at Auburn) $500 per interception or paying his rent and someone having an NIL deal worth millions. The guy who is still poor has incentive to do well; the guy making millions has zero incentive to do what someone else tells him.

And don't get me started on the portal.....
Or the 12, 16, who knows how many team playoff.....

Maybe the reason Ohio State wanted the game at night and Texas refused was perhaps the feeling that the home crowd might be a little more fired up at night than they would be for a day game. We all know for example that many teams would rather play LSU in a day game at Baton Rouge instead of playing there at night. It's probably the same feeling at many campuses.

Night games tend to attract more viewers, this more exposure for the program.

OTH, tejas doesn't want the precedent set for next year's game to be a night game as well. They want to use the heat of a day game to their advantage I truly believe that that is their reasoning...😎
