Rumor around Florida is that Brandon Spikes showed up at Florida's fall camp 20 lbs overweight. It may be true, because Urban Meyer claimed the reason that Spikes wasn't at SECMDs is because he is "shy." I didn't buy that, I figured there was another reason, and this may be it.

Spikes did start fall practice with additional weight...but it was planned, weight he put on during the off season. He wanted to be able to handle large linemen between the tackles, as he said. However it has slowed him down and tired him out. He now says that he will drop some of the additional weight.

Someone with his frame probably doesn't look like Ralph Friedgen from gaining only 20 lbs.
