Brian Kelly Votes Cincy No. 1

you had one to many https in there and a \ just a fyi so you can fix the link.

Well if he really thinks his team is number one I say go for it. I dunno if that's the norm to vote for your own team though.

I wouldn't expect anything else.

He's knows more about his team than anyone else, and if he thinks they are the best team in the country then he should.

Now, if Cincy were 9-3 or even 11-1 then there would be an issue.

Not to mention the fact that to vote his team lower would send a message to his team he really doesn't want to send. I'd expect any coach of the undefeated teams left to vote their team #1.

I think we're the best team in the country, and I'd love to see a 6 team playoff here, with Cincy playing Boise and Florida playing TCU for the right to play Bama and Texas, respectively. Then the winner of those two games plays for the title.

If that were to happen, though, the only teams I'd give a decent chance to make it to the title game besides Bama and Texas are Florida and TCU. TCU is for real but I don't think they'd win three games against that level of competition.

My only thing is why is this the first week they've had a first place vote? Shouldn't his logic apply to the whole season? At the very least ever since they hit 10-0. I don't have a problem with it, I just think it should've bee done before the final poll.

“We were within one second of playing for a national championship,” Kelly told the Enquirer. “It was very difficult. It was a tough one at the end.”

You were also one Wann-stache brain fart away from playing in the Alamo Bowl, so let's keep things in perspective. You're the best college football team in Ohio right now, but that's about all you can say for sure.

Best to humbly accept your Sugar Bowl bid and then agree to be the next overweight head coach at ND. You've got surprisingly small slip-on shoes to fill.

And Bearcats, have fun getting the brakes beaten off of you by the bloodthirstiest saint-athlete anyone's ever seen.

It shows a flaw in the system. Not sure how much it helped, but they inched past TCU in the BCS and you have to wonder how much that vote helped. If he coaches at Notre Dame he can probably get away with voting them #1 even if they haven't won a single game...

I watched their game against Pitt, if you think that's a performance worthy of #1 you need to get your eyes checked. I hope Florida demolishes them.

Maybe I'm wrong but it seems that there is always a discussion about this topic about this same time every year becasue of some coaches vote cast in the poll. Honestly, I wouldn't expect anything less especially from an undefeated team regardless of how they might have looked in their last game. It is what it is. I too would be a fan of not being able to vote for your team but as such, I don't find it to be a huge deal.

Ridiculous but not unexpected for Kelly to do it. I don't see how you can do that with a straight face when you just gave up a billion points to Pitt... I would love to have had the opportunity for our D to tear Cincy apart.

I'm a little surprised that Gary Patterson voted TCU #2 due to the the reasons stated above.

"Boise is a great team, but we're here to prove a point," TCU coach Gary Patterson said. "I voted for us No. 2 in the Coaches' poll today. We feel like we have a great team and we're out to prove we're the No. 1 team in the nation."

Always felt like coaches shouldnt be able to vote for themselves. As they can, I would vote my team #1 if it was undefeated. But he also said he thought that the two best teams were playing for the championship. It's no big deal really, and I have no problem with it. He would have felt like a real idiot if he voted them third and that vote was the difference from playing for the NC and not.

Exactly...
