Can someone explain me what 1A, 2A,...7A classifications mean ?

I think the smallest 7A school enrollment is over 1000 students with the largest over 2000.

13/14 I think. Those schools are like small colleges. Actually bigger than some small colleges. One grade in a 7A school is equal to multiple 1A school's K-12 enrollment.

Edit: also why Hoover didn't stand a chance! Folks back in Alabama think Hoover has a band that is too big (around 325), but ours is over 800.

Cuda, I went to the Plano Sr vs. Plano West game tonight, but they announced Allen and Plano East were tied at 24 in the 4th qt. I was kinda surprised to hear that score.

Plano Sr. plays Plano East next Friday night for homecoming.

Yeah, PESH was ahead, prior to that. After Allen tied it, they got another quick score, and then had to hunker down, late. A bit over 1 minute to go, PESH got the ball and was starting to move the ball. PESH's QB had not thrown an INT, since the first game of the season, and with 4th & 5...................

Yep, he coughed one up. They ran it back for a TD, but there were so many penalties, on both teams, that it was called back. Instead, Allen ball, and they had to get 1st down, to run out the clock. Which they did.

Now, on that 4th & 5............

It was 4th and 6", but PESH jumped the snap, and that backed them up, and put them in panic mode. Their QB was picking years, with his feet, all game, but they went with a pass instead.

A 1A school will have at most 150 students as compared to 7A, which TiderJ correctly says is, well, relatively huge.

We were 2A in the late 90's and was a K-12 school then. We only had 420 students in all 13 grades. Now we're 1A and have half the students we had back then in the classification numbers. Only a 5-12 grade school now.

Housing in their area has been arranged behind the scenes so that a soon to be star finds himself suddenly living in a football hotspot. Mom or Pop are offered a decent job, behind the scenes... Amazing how things can work out for a player who may have the 'Right Stuff'.
Yep... Cheating at it's best, but can anyone really prove it? That's as far as most highschool investigations go. It's like a guys Dad quietly going to work at Goodyear or Firestone. Suddenly there is gonna be extra money to buy Jr. a new car. Cheating? Can you prove it?

Cheating takes several forms. If a kid moves to another school district, his parents and coaches may think they have jumped through all of the hoops until the season is almost over, and then someone "discovers" that there was some unresolved issue that made the player ineligible, and the team has to forfeit all of their wins. The AHSAA will jump all over a technicality, but doesn't care when a kid gets recruited by Big Dog High School.

Correct. Now 32 teams make the playoffs out of 64 teams per class except for 7A which take 16. 1A most years will vary in total teams and won't have 64. 7A now has 4 rounds of playoffs (16 total teams) and 1A-6A has 5 rounds of playoffs (32 teams).

I think 84 or 85 was the year we went to 6 classes (something like that) and like has been mentioned already we went to 7 in 2013 or 2014.
