if we had kept some of this talent in state how we would have done the past few years. I am not bashing Shula because I believe he has done a great recruiting job under the circumstances. Also, Fran/Price missed a couple of these

Jason Allen was having a good season until his injury.
Swain had a few good receptions
JaMarcus Russell is starting to look like the real deal
Chevis Jackson had a pick for LSU tonight as well
Anderson - The freshman for Vandy had nine tackles.
Chad Jackson - Would fill Prothro's spot pretty well

Chad Jackson???

I know we have a VERY hard hitting linebackers, but Chad's drops against us showed me I'm glad he is not in a Crimson Jersey.

I noticed the same thing during the LSU/UT game. Several of LSU's starters are from Alabama. I think the probation, and poor recruiting really benefitted other schools around the SEC. It looks like those days are coming to an end as CMS seems to clamping down, and going into other team's backyards to get talent. The other teams in the conference had better enjoyed Bama being down because it looks like the Tide's on the rise.

Mobile will always be a difficult area to recruit for Bama. LSU, the Florida schools, and even the Barn have strong ties to the area. We're beginning to get a few more back, but we'll never completely dominate that area as long as those schools keep winning somewhat. Of course, a SECC or a NC will go a long way.

Swain

Just wanted to set the record straight on Swain. Swain went to Grissom HS in Huntsville and graduated a year after I did. He turned 16 and got an orange Camaro. Anyone who knows his family realizes that they could not afford the car. Take from this what you want. It was very clear to everyone in the school how he got the vehicle. In my opinion, I am glad he did come to Alabama.

speaking of instate recruiting, are there any Tennessee players actually from Tennessee? seams everyone on the team is from CA, HI, AL, Oregon.. is there anywhere the Vols don't recruit?

jamarcus russell went to lswho.
I'm not. If Jamarcus had come to Bama (which would never happen unfortunately) he would have been on the field competing for a spot last year when Brodie went down. Not to mention, we would have an experience player at the QB spot going into spring practice rather than relying on SO and FR players. Besides that he is heck of a player!

I agree Mobile won't be locked down but Bama has connections and has gotten good players over the years. The bottom line is when you win players want to come play for you.
