Chris Smelley?

Why not offer Chris a scholarship? I think that he will be a very good player.

Because we are probably only going to sign one QB this year and Tim Tebow is priority #1. If/when the staff feels that Tebow has moved past Bama, I am sure that Smelly will pick up a UA offer. Unfortunately, you do risk him moving on and taking an offer elsewhere, but I think we can afford to do that with the young QBs we already have on the roster (JPW, Johns, Barnes).

Maybe you just don't want an answer. We offered Caudle and not Smelley because the staff would rather have Caudle than Smelley and they feel that Caudle would be a better fit than would Smelley.

Now what gave you that idea, of course I would want an answer. Caudle was a sure lock for AU, there was absolutely no chance we would get him, and I mean no chance, where as Smelley is from Tuscaloosa excellent athelete, looks to have all the tools to be a good Div 1 prospect. Oh, and best yet, he actually wants to play for AL grew up an alabama fan. I don't understand why we could pass him, the hometown boy, for Caudle the Aubie. The only negative I have heard about Smelley is that he plays for a small school, ACA. But that didn't stop us from getting Croyle. The way things are going Smelley is probably going to LSU or Ole Miss because we won't offer, we are holding out for Tebow.

Smelley better go to Ole Miss because he probably won't see the field at LSU they have this guy down there named Perrilloux that is supposed to be pretty good and he isn't even playing this year.

Right now Bama has two QB offers out to Tim Tebow and athlete Earl Alexander. Granted Alexander's future at Bama is most likely at WR but he is still a top rated QB and from what I have read he wants a shot at playing QB. I think Chris Smelley will get a Bama offer if both of or one of these guys decide not to come to Bama.
