Clemson University police arrested two students on drug-related charges early Friday.Samuel B. Watkins IV, 18, a freshman communication studies major from Fort Myers, Fla., and member of the football team, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and simple possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors.Amadou-Tidiane Daniel Dia, 18, a freshman in parks, recreation and tourism management from Highlands Ranch, Colo., and member of the men’s soccer team, was charged with simple possession of marijuana.The men were arrested when police stopped the car Watkins was driving after an officer saw it scrape against a curb on campus and because the temporary license tag was not illuminated. When the officer pulled the car over in a parking lot off Commons Court, he smelled marijuana. During a search he found marijuana and two pills for which Watkins did not have a prescription.The men were arrested and taken to the Clemson City Jail. Watkins was released Friday morning on a $1,620 personal recognizance bond, and Dia was released on a $620 personal recognizance bond.​

I really hate that he was so stupid. Whatever the outcome of the legal issues, Dabo needs to set Watkins suspend him now and certain requirements to become part of the team again. It should be completely in-house and not media fodder. Much in the way Coach Saban is handling our wayward WRs.

Watkins is certainly a real talent but a strong hand now will certainly help him in the future.

Frankly, considering the time of year, I imagine you could arrest a 1/3 of any college campus for schedule II drug possession charge. He was probably using adderall as a "study aid" for finals cram sessions.

I guess he was taking the recreation part of his major too seriously...

Lord these kids get more daring every day...

Of course there are no real consequences for their actions these days. Give him his little slap on the hand and then hand him millions of dollars in a year or so.

If they knew they were really taking a big risk there would be a lot less of this kind of stuff going on.

Nothing detrimental will really happen to him or any other star player and they all know it...

That is why they are are wiling to take the risk.

The barn hasn't been the same since the end of the short-lived newton era. All the luck in the world times a thousand didn't do jack for them last year. Remember the LSU game? They could not have wished for a better set of circumstances with all those LSU players that were suspended at that time. And LSU still won by 35 in a game that was pretty much decided before the end of the first quarter.
