That’s a dilemma at your house , Georgia wins the national title and BAMA hears about the 3peat and Kirby’s greatness. Bama wins and Buckeyes hear about Harbaugh and Michigan. This is a Bama board so I’m happy with how it played out Considering the alternative.Saban is in Kirby's head. Georgia wins it all last year if not for Alabama.
And, There is a positive. Notre Dame can never be a top 4 seed With the current structure.Yes, we'll have to understand the difference in "rank" and "seed."
Didn't they all pick FSU yesterday also? Their playoff brackets means nothing.Herbstreit and Howard didn't even have Bama in their 12 team playoff prediction bracket.
Maybe LANK might work this year after all cause we seem to be a team that is forgotten as this year embarks by several talking heads.
So, ignore head-to-head?And I still don't know how we did it. We looked like trash the whole season and beat them by 3 points. We were in the playoff, but they should have been.
Still though, the way it's set up, there will be very good teams left out, and meh or worse teams included. And we'll hear whining, wailing, and gnashing of teeth from Washington state to Florida. If folks thought there were complaints about the playoff system before, just wait and see come December.Didn't they all pick FSU yesterday also? Their playoff brackets means nothing.
I agree. There will always be someone whining. I for one feel as though the BCS got it right every single year.Still though, the way it's set up, there will be very good teams left out, and meh or worse teams included. You realize FSU can still win the ACC and get a 1st round bye right?Didn't they all pick FSU yesterday also? Their playoff brackets means nothing.
All I was saying is that they picked FSU over GA Tech to win the game and got it wrong. So why should I think their playoff predictions could possibly be correct. You realize FSU can still win the ACC and get a 1st round bye right?
Because the new playoff format is stupid. Their playoff prediction was not affected at all by the game yesterday. Could FSU implode? Sure, but I think they are still the favorite to win their pathetic conference. All I was saying is that they picked FSU over GA Tech to win the game and got it wrong. I can guarantee there will be no "very good teams left out". There will, however, be a lot of teams that have no business even being in the playoffs.Still though, the way it's set up, there will be very good teams left out, and meh or worse teams included. The fact that a G5 team is guaranteed to get in every year is an absolute joke.I can guarantee there will be no "very good teams left out". There will, however, be a lot of teams that have no business even being in the playoffs.
Thanks for the explanation. That sucks even more. Why not give the byes to the 4 highest rated teams, regardless of conference. That would make more sense than giving a spot to the ACC champ. I'm not really up on all of these rules yet, but does a conference champion have to be ranked at a certain level to get a top 4 seed. For example, what if Clemson wins the ACC, but has 3 losses and are ranked 14 or 15. Do they still get a top 4 seed and a bye? It’s not the top 4. It’s the 4 highest ranked conference champions , they all get a bye and the top 4 seeds, regardless of record. Utah has a good chance to win the BIG12 and I guess the prediction is for Clemson to reclaim the ACC.
Because they are still operating under the assumption that the conferences are remotely equal. I would wager there are 4-5 teams in the SEC that are better than the eventual Big12 and ACC champions from this year. Thanks for the explanation. That sucks even more. I don't put as much stock into conference championship games as a lot of people. We've gotten into BCS/playoffs before without even being in the SEC Championship game. So, ignore head-to-head?
Or Utah! Thanks for the explanation. That sucks even more. Why not give the byes to the 4 highest rated teams, regardless of conference. That would make more sense than giving a spot to the ACC champ. Yep, it'll be so much fun watching Liberty or Boise State in the playoff. I can't wait. Or watching whomstever wins the Big 12 jumping from wherever they are ranked into the top 4.....because conference champion.Because the new playoff format is stupid. The fact a 3 loss conference champion (hint* ACC) would get a bye is a jokeThe fact that a G5 team is guaranteed to get in every year is an absolute joke.
Yep, that too. I still think the G5 inclusion is worse. They aren't playing the same game. The fact a 3 loss conference champion (hint* ACC) would get a bye is a joke
