I looked at several pictures of that squad on the USC site and I'm wondering about the validity of this picture.

This girl is AT LEAST 1 foot taller than all the other girls, but on the site none tower over the others like that. It could be an optical illusion...

If there's a good reason (field curvature, whatever) we can't see the other girls' feet, then the "tall" girl could be jumping (we see her feet)

You are correct. She is raising up on her feet.

Also, look at the angles of the light source. The shadows on her correspond perfectly to the shadows on the other cheerleaders, as do the color tones and resolution.

I believe that the picture is authentic. If it has been manipulated, then it has been meticulously edited by an expert... for it doesn't have the obvious flaws that are incurred by most photographic alterations.
