"Our third stringer is better than Lattimore", proclaimed one overly confident Tidefans member earlier this season. I believe we can now all say that this has been proven incorrect!

Congrats to Coach Spurrier and his 'cocks! The bond he has with this team was in full display last night and reminded me of our team last year. Clinching the division in the swamp made it that much better to witness, which was evident by the mob of video cameras and reporters encircling him at the end of the game.

This is the Gamecocks first divisional crown and trip to Atlanta, and that's a big deal after 18 years with only 6 teams imo. Bama aside, I am always for a team that has never experienced the fanfare of the championship game in Atlanta. I believe there's only maybe three left.

I second this. I will probably take some heat for this, but I'm glad to see SOS get back into the thick of it. Personally I think he's good for the game and the conference.

I like seeing Spurrier winning the East, I like his style and it's fun seeing Urban out of the spotlight.

Can't wait to see the Gamecocks and Barners.

If you could pick one coach in the entire SEC who might have enough nerve to talk a little smack about Auburn & Cam...

I am happy for Gamecock fans, but I am much happier that it wasn't Florida again. Their fans were starting to mouth off again. Glad to see them humbled like this (as we have been).

With neither Fl nor Bama in the SECCG, our matchup next season will be very important. Both will be hungry to re-establish their dominance. Hungry teams usually play with more intensity. Should be fun.

USC East is indeed a much improved team. They deserve credit for being a great team. Every year We hear that CSS is going to field a great team,
but this year it appears that he's got the players to win. I thought that Steve Garcia would panic and screw up like he has in years past. WRONG.
Garcia played a near perfect game against us and since he's looked like the 'Real Deal'.
I was happy to see that USC East took care of Florida and is on their way to the SEC Championship Game. Go Gamecocks.

I hope we send Auburn into that game with a 'Blemish' on their record; other than Cam Newton... RTR

That reminded me of an interesting quote from CSS last night after the game. It was relayed on twitter by one of the USC reporters.

Spurrier, after game, passes Lattimore. Looks at a writer and says, "We won this division the day we signed him."

The question to me is whether Spurrier waits until game week to insult Auburn, or goes ahead now and starts up some wisecracks about them.

I don't think he will be able to resist. :)

Agree,

Steve Spurrier is much more likable when he doesn't destroy your season
every year (Tennessee) or make you play second fiddle and hurt your support(Stallings).

He was always respected but feared. Now that he has taken over the Miss State of the east, most everyone can enjoy his brick by brick triumphs without a constant punch in the gut too.
