So piece of legislation sponsored by a Republican that carried 78% of the Republican vote and 70% of the Democratic Vote is some how the fault of Liberals?

I just don't even understand how to think like a Conservative any more.

If you can't see that neither party gives a crap about you or your privacy you've got your head in the freaking sand

oh and by the way, you know who fights the hardest against stuff like this? The Radical Commie Liberals at the ACLU
As true as that is, there is a MAJOR difference from the “conservatives" in the house and the real conservatives.

your premise is that, Liberals are letting in too many illegal aliens so therefore the Republicans have no choice but to spy on the rest of us?

why can't you just admit that the republicans suck too?

I'll admit that the democrats suck

Just so I'm understanding you right, are you saying that it is those who don't believe in using torture, or liberals, who put this together as a way to still gather intelligence?
Not what I'm saying. I'm not even saying that liberals put this spying brigade together. I'm saying that it's a result of liberal policies in order to combat terrorism. They're mingling among us right now.

As conservative as my views may be, I also believe that it takes both liberals and conservatives to run this country at it's peak. However, the one thing I cannot compromise on is the security of this nation being politicized. Which is exactly what the Dems are doing.

We can play politics with anything else you want. Heck, I may even conceed on a lot of things and give in to the liberal point of view. But we cannot hashout our differences in the war on terror in the media and abroad. All it does is make us look unorganized and ununited in the war on terror, and give these radical groups one more recruiting tool.

They both suck. As much as I talk politics around here, I hate politicians. That's a fact.

However, when it comes to what I believe are the biggest threats and issues this country is facing right now, I cannot agree with anything that liberals or the Democratic party align themselves with.

I don't like political agendas. Anytime you lean too far one way or the other, that's all you're subscribing yourself to. An agenda. Not a solution.

Furthemore, I'm not against any religion or culture, unless that religion or culture poses danger to innocent people, or those who don't subscribe to it. Do I believe all Muslims are killers? Absolutely not. But I know what the Quran teaches. I don't trust 'em.

I'll go a little further in depth.... I've mentioned previously that I have a stepdaughter who lives with a Muslim recently here from Jordan. Me and this young man have had face to face discussions about a lot of things right there in front of his parents, and in their home.

The first time I met him I spent an entire weekend and drove all the way to Memphis to meet with this guy and his parents. Her poor mother was scared to death when she found out about it and had to tell me what was going on. I was absolutely 100% honest with them about how I felt, and what I expect. I asked some tough questions.

They've changed my views on some things, and I've changed theirs as well. You have to understand that this is a HUGE, HUGE deal for me. Rather than overreact, I did this out of love for my stepdaugher.

Left-leaning and right-leaning Libertarians have their own heated discussions at times, but bills (laws) such as these are why both remain unaffiliated with the two major parties and are generally skittish about accepting 'conservative' or 'liberal' monikers. Jon would sit on the other side of the table from me in some conversations, but we're definitely agreed on this one.

Comparisons of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World with George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four
Social critic Neil Postman contrasted the worlds of Nineteen Eighty-Four and Brave New World in the foreword of his 1985 book Amusing Ourselves to Death. He writes:

What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egotism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions." In 1984, Postman added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we fear will ruin us. Huxley feared that our desire will ruin us.
The apathy we are seeing to these intrusions reminded me of this.
