If you have a ROKU tv, get used to clearing the cache. Hit the home button. then:
Hit Home button five times, up button once. reverse twice. fast forward twice.

This will cause it to seize up and hard reboot. You want this. Better than even unpluging the set and replugging in; also, it's quicker.

<Snip> Thank me later.
Did it. Thanks!

I wondered why nothing was happening ... considered following your instructions again ... then it rebooted.

ESPN has a new streaming service starting the 21st. I think its about $29 and includes all live espn channels and all ABC college football games. So you won't get as much non sec games as you would with youtube tv, but you'll get all the sec games for quite a bit less.
I was all set to go with YouTubeTV ... then I read your post.

As my wife is a North Dakota girl, we're also fans of the NDSU Bison. Their football games are available mostly on ESPN+. Now we can watch them instead of just listening on live radio.

Thank you!

We moved over the summer and I've yet to subscribe to any service but plan to do so in view of the upcoming season.

I used YouTube TV last fall for about a week when Directv had its contract dispute with ESPN because I thought I might miss a Bama game, but was able to cancel within the first "free" week.

So, I'm about ready to jump back in with YouTube TV. Is there a good reason NOT to go with them aside from the new, increased price which is roughly 80 bucks a month?

Additionally, I'm considering the NFL package as well. Planning on watching alot more football this year.

Planning to use my wife's email address to get the new customer discount for the first couple of months too!

Alright, change my mind!
If $80/month won't change your mind, I sure won't be able to.

Our family has a collection of Roku and FireTV devices scattered around, but my main streaming device and by far the best one I've ever used is the Nvidia Shield Pro. Can't recommend it highly enough. I used to be deep into my own custom build HTPC, with IP cable tuner (HDHomerun), madvr for HDR rendering etc. Got fatigued from constantly chasing Windows updates and broken services as a result, and bit the bullet to switch to the Shield. Best decision I ever made. It just works. I still have a media server full of show episodes, ripped movies (many 4K), etc. and use Emby through the Shield for all of it. It's awesome.
Did I write this? This is literally me.

Your streaming will not buffer or if it does, it will not be because you needed to clear your cache. Do this WAY before you are about to watch something important. At least 10-15 minutes before, if not more.

Thank me later.
OK, school me on this.

Why is this important/what's the purpose?

You recommending this before watching ball games OR just doing this occasionally?

I have a Shield and when it gives up the ghost, I'm promptly buying another one. I still keep my Roku connected because my wife prefers its simpler interface and I prefer not being dragged into the room just to help her navigate the apps. It's a win/win for us both.

I have a Roku on each of the TVs... I think most of them are about 5 years old and rarely have any problems. Every now and then an app requires a reload, but nothing major.

Yeah the Roku and FireTV devices are decidely cheaper (vs Shield Pro especially) and a little simpler, but Shield Pro is the gold standard as far as I'm concerned. Worth every penny. Some argue the HDR rendering can be a little soft, but I've not noticed much difference compared to my old HTPC running madvr rendering. And it's exopnentially lower on the headache scale.

It looks like YTTV is about to lose the Fox networks as well. They lost MLB Network a few years ago, and that ticked me off. Now it appears they're about to no longer carry Fox. So there goes another entire set of sports content they don't offer. I may be ending my relationship with them soon.
Same here. I'm no Auburn fan, but I want to watch the game Friday. So they have 'til about 10 minutes before kick off to get this fixed, or I am on to something else (or at least starting a free trial for something).

I caught that this morning. I've already sent my complaint.

And here is the link for contacting Youtube to express your anger:
