hey guys i was just wondering if i could get a debate started about which one was believed to be the superior linebacker....i have no idea which one is better because i was born in 1987 other than bennett is the guy who annihilated the Notre dame QB in 86. but im very interested about learning more about these two legendary alabama players.

I was fortunate enough to be on campus when those guys played. I don't think you could really say one was better than the other as they were both just incredible, incredible talents. Almost interchangeable in my book. If you put a gun to my head and made me choose I would pick DT simply because I think he was a hair quicker.

Welcome to the off-season!!!

Let's see...

Do I want to get run over by a passenger train or a freight train? Hit by a ton of rocks or a ton of bricks? Smashed or smushed?

I'd hate to live on the difference, but for the sake of having something to talk about, gimme 'Biscuit'.

This is like saying..."Which would you rather own Walmart or Microsoft"?...lol

I honestly can't remember any advantage in one over the other. Derrick may and I emphasize MAY have been a bit quicker as a pass rusher but it's a mighty small "bit".

If they were both just entering the draft I'd trade up and get them both.

Yeah I would take Biscuit to stop the run 10 times out of 10. The thing DThomas was so amazing at was getting to the QB. I mean...the guy rewrote the record books in sacks in college and the NFL. I am proud both of them wore Crimson in college...as well as leaving some of that Crimson on the jerseys of the teams we played against. :p_wink:

Honestly, they called them Linebackers but both were more like Stand Up Defensive Ends to me.

They were both great players but if I had only one choice I think I would choose Biscuit.

Now who would you pick if Lee Roy Jordan was put in the mix?

Too close to pick one. Both could dominate a game from the LB position and turn a QB into a pile of quivering mush.
I agree it's too close to pick one over the other,,, What most don't know or even remember is the buzz Bennett created the first few years of his NFL career. He instantly make his team better when he stepped on the field and the fans and media could not get enough of the biscuit.

For some reason, whenever I saw Biscuit homing in on a QB or RB, the music from Jaws would run through my head.

You know, that would be a good project for someone, dub the soundtrack from Jaws onto a highlight video of Biscuit and DT.

Thomas was quicker. - Buscuit was a RB head hunter, better all around. - Derrick Thomas could get that 1st step and out quick any OT that was trying to keep him off the QB. DT was quick enough to cover backs with ease. - Cornelius Bennett was the best linebacker in college football the year he finished 2nd to Brian Bosworth. Buscuit could stop BO and did.

If I remember right Thomas, Bama would move him all around to come from LB ,DE so you never would know where he was coming from great first step and as a pass rusher. Bennett came always from LB but was a awesome hitter, in his junior yr , almost knocking Bo jackson out of a game, not even to mention pennstate and notredame game too, head hunter but a awesome player ,always laid the wood on the other team

While Biscuit was easily better against the run , sacks and fumbles change field position and win games . From that angle , there is no comparison and I'd take DT 8 days a week . Obviously everyone remembers "The Sack" but , DT had a LOT more hits like that than did Biscuit . JOMHO :)

I watched them playing one-on-one at the rec center. Scariest damn thing I ever saw, those two moving and jumping around, quick as cats.
