Yeah but you have to remember there were years worth of threads about Dabo. From 2013-2021 Dabo was one of the most popular names amongst the fan base. Then you have the insufferable contingent that defends everything he says and does because he is a “bama boy”
Thank God Byrne never scrolled through that thread looking for ideas and instead made the decision to hire CKD. To me that guy is the real superstar in Tuscaloosa right now

I have been one of his biggest apologists on here and even I have to admit his recent attitude is a bad look. I saw him interviewed prior to the Georgia massacre and he seemed delusional and defiant - saying his roster was as stacked as anyone's and the hubbub about his refusing to adapt was rubbish.

It felt like the game that followed was the universe saying, "not so fast my friend."

I also hate the transfer portal and respect Dabo's commitment to the kids he recruited, but if the rules include a transfer portal and you can gain advantages following those rules, he should do so. After all, he is being paid handsomely to coach and manage his team. He has a responsibility not only to his team but the university and fanbase. If he cannot stomach following the rules, I can admire that. But he should step aside.

DuBose kinda went haywire over religion while Dabo was his assistant in Tuscaloosa and sometimes I think Dabo just can‘t shake that influence.

I.
I was reading the ESPN article on Clemson and Dabo, and especially his take on the transfer portal. One of Dabo's quotes was "We've done it in a unique way," Swinney said. "Now people want me to go do it some other way. They've lost their freakin' mind. I'm not doing it another way."
I couldn't help but think how quickly college football shifts, and if coaches don't adapt, the program quickly slips away. One of the big reasons Saban dominated for so long was his ability to adapt to the changing game. Coach Bryant faced a similar challenge and adapted. Any coach that is not willing to adapt to the changing game and rules behind it, will rather quickly fade away. I think Dabo has become the epitome of this.
I'm just thankful he's not our problem & neverrrrr will be our problem as our HC in T-Town!!!!
