Anyone have a video of the commitment? Thanks in advance.
There is one in an article on page 4 of this thread. Let me post it for you. This thread needs a bump ttt anyway.
Xzaier Dickson picks Alabama - ESPN
Anyone have a video of the commitment? Thanks in advance.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Four-star defensive end Xzavier Dickson (Griffin, Ga,/Griffin) will leave the Peach State to play for Nick Saban at the University of Alabama.
Dickson chose Alabama over Auburn and Georgia. He is one of the members of the Georgia "Dream Team" -- a group of in-state players that were being heavily courted to come to the University of Georgia.
Instead Dickson, a 6-foot-4, 242-pounder, says he's living his own dream.
"I think Alabama has a pretty good recruiting class too," Dickson joked. "I love the coaches there and I feel like their style of football best works for me."
Dickson, the No. 22-rated player in the Class of 2011, gives Alabama its eighth commitment from the ESPNU 150. The Crimson Tide currently have the second-best recruiting class in the nation and are in a battle with Texas and FSU for the top-rated class overall.
As a senior, Dickson had his second straight year of double-digit sacks and was a first-team all-state selection.
How much is known about Dickson's academic status? Some UGA people have said he's borderline.
Dickson has proven to be quite the jokester this week and maybe he was just having a little fun. But here’s our exchange about it after the game:
Me: “I thought you were going to flip a coin?â€Â
Him: “I did it before I came out here; I flipped it in the locker room.â€Â
“I was in the locker room,†I said. “I didn’t see that.â€Â
Dickson: “It was right before we came out. I went back to my locker.â€Â
Me: “So you flipped a coin and it came up Alabama?â€Â
Him: “Yes, sir, I did.â€Â
Me: “You swear?â€Â
Him: “Yes, sir.â€Â
So there you go.
Pressed for a few more details on the decision, Dickson said: “I feel [Alabama] was the best fit for me. They just made me feel at home, the coaches and all, the players. They’re just nice guys to hang around.â€Â
That, or as one follower suggested on Twitter,â€ÂNick Saban found a way to affect the coin flip.â€Â
Is it true that CNS can control Alabama's recruiting fate? I think so. This situation reminds me of the old saying you make your own luck or that luck is 98% preparation and 2% opportunity.

“I am going to Alabama,†Dickson said. “I like Alabama’s defense and their coaching staff. Alabama has told me I could play early and have a major impact on their team. I like how they play hard-nosed football. They have a great coaching staff and just know how to get after it every day.â€Â
Dickson could play defensive end or linebacker on the next level. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound prospect recorded 20 sacks as a senior and is a member of the Scout.com National 100. He held scholarship offers from across the country, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami and Southern Cal.
All that I have heard in relation to Dickson's grades have been negative comments from UGA fans. You can bet that CNS is all over the situation if there is anything to worry about.
I read on one of the bulldogs forums that XD's family has their hands out so if it's not grades, it's money
For what it's worth, the recruiting guy at the AJC says XD was clearly torn by his decision, adding that he thinks the kid may change his mind before February. It's probably worth watching.
To be fair, AT, Chip Towers called it for Bama about 4 hours before the announcement when 'insiders' on the AJC board said X was picking Georgia.
this. I don't see anyone commit in front of national TV just to decommit a couple days later...Well I will keep my ears to the track on this one but I haven't seen anything to lead me to believe that he will switch before NSD.

Dickson (6-3, 238), of Griffin, Ga., projects as an outside linebacker at Alabama, and although he played with his hand in the dirt in high school he said this week he's comfortable with the transition.
"I think it'll be a good transition," said Dickson, who is rated the No. 22 overall prospect in the nation by ESPN. "I'm versatile. I can use all my athletic ability and I think I'll work into the program pretty good."
