Dial and Williams: I'm sure someone else has thought of this...

...but I just want to point out what the depth chart looks like next year at Alabama:

WDE: Marcel Dareus, Undra Billingsley, Darrington Sentimore, Chris Bonds, Glen Harbin
NT: Josh Chapman, Kerry Murphy, Nick Gentry, Brandon Ivory
SDE: Damion Square, Brandon Moore, Brandon Lewis, Anthony Orr, William Ming

Now, I doubt most of us expect Dareus to return. But so far, Alabama has Quinton Dial, Jesse Williams, LaMichael Fanning and D.J. Pettway committed and is chasing at least a couple of others, namely Clowney at DE. If you believe some of the scuttlebutt coming out of Tuscaloosa, Dial is going to play DE at 6'6", 320.

So plug those four guys Alabama already has committed into the lineup -- especially Williams and Dial playing side-by-side -- and this becomes the single best defensive line I think The University of Alabama has ever had, in terms of raw talent. And if Dareus should happen to shock the world and come back for his senior year? Mercy.

No kidding. Really amazing how the talent has accumulated all over the field for Bama, but DL has to be ahead of the pack.

Is Dial or Williams redshirting this year in Juco or are both coming with 3 years to play 2?

But our DL is definitely going to be pretty dang special over the next few years.

How about Brandon Ivory?
Just added him. I typically forget Glen Harbin when I'm doing these things but I forgot Ivory this time.

To answer the other questions, I believe Dial and Williams are both 3-to-play-2 players, but both will at least be midterm graduates.

It will literally be possible to rotate enough quality players to the point that stamina is almost irrelevant.

The sheer weight and power of Dial and Williams alone is scary. Imagine the push if you throw Murphy in the middle. 3 330 pound lineman on the field at once.

We're loading up as many NFL talents as the 80's Hurricanes..Only without the trashy attitude they had..Plus we have one of the best HC's of the "Modern Era" coaching up..I love "The Process"..

What do Dial and Williams have to do with it?
You ask this question for one of two reasons...or maybe a combination of both.

Jess is speaking of the loaded defensive line of 2011, especially in regards to DE with Quinton Dial and Jesse Williams. I think you may be thinking about our two offensive TE's Preston Dial and Micheal Williams.

I hope this helped.

With some of the players mentioned, how are Harbin and Bonds doing?
Bonds is doing well and working his way up the rotation. His future is still very, very bright if he can stay healthy.

Harbin, however, looks to be stalled out. At this point, I'd be surprised if he ever consistently became a meaningful contributor on defense. As I said yesterday with Love, he's got younger players ahead of him in the rotation... always a bad sign.

I think its better than Miami just saying
Miami 2001 starting defense:

RE:Jerome McDougal
DT:William Joseph
DT:Vince Wilfork (Probowler)
LE:Andrew Williams
OLB: DJ Williams
MLB:Jonathan Vilma (Probowler)
OLB: Chris Campbell
CB: Mike Rumph
FS: Sean Taylor (Probowler, RIP)
SS: Ed Reed (Probowler
CB:phillop Buchanon

That's not too shabby. I like our D a lot, but I think we're 2-3 years away from having that kind of talent on the field in their prime.

The most scary thing about that kind of DL depth (for opponents) is there will be no wearing the defense down and there will be fresh legs constantly chasing the QB.

Most important in this whole equation isn't just consistent performance across the board throughout a game - CNS will be able to use each player in a unique "package" that best suits his ability.
