Doing your best to scare the commitments off?????? I mean information is good, but let's be smart about what you put on a free board.

Are you saying the players Alabama recruits can't read?

Are you saying the coaching staff isn't up front with every recruit?

Are you saying we hide the truth so maybe a recruit will commit and then ah ha! we got them?

Maybe you should go to another team if you can't answer these questions.

With that out of the way, YES, these number arer misleading.

First Carter, will he be ready to assume a starting role? No one knows till he gets out on the field. Coaches have said they will go easy with him in spring practice.

Brooks, he's like 5'5" or something, hardly the type of receiver Shula is now recruiting.

Givens, prototype size, but can't get routes down.

Roach could move to safety.

McKnight and McDowell are walk ons.

McDaniel might move to DB.

Jones is a walk on.

Knight may play OLB.

So now you are down to 6 WR's

Prothro
Caddell
Stover
Brown
Hall
Oakley
Stamps

Still look for at least 1 surprise out of the walk ons.

BTW, John D they are true freshmen. Does that help?

Congratulations on D.J. Hall. This kid is the real deal. Not sure where we dropped the ball, but this could be Ron Zook's curtain call.

We recruited him hard for 2+ years, he badly wanted to be a Gator and then we "slow played" him?

From what I have heard and seen, this kid has all the makings to be better than two other state of Florida kids that the state schools screwed up on: Santanio Holmes (starter for OSU) and Mike Williams (star player for USC).

D.J. has the size, the hands, the speed and the moves to be the next Randy Moss...without the off field problems.

Congrats again. Now, if you will excuse me, this Gator is suddenly sick to his stomach!

Just one thing: When you make it back to Atlanta to represent your half of the annual Florida/Alabama Post-Season Classic (sometimes misidentified as the SEC Championship Game) remember us fondly if we are not there. We have the talent to get there...just missing an offensive coach who knows how to teach his kids to throw down field instead of running gimmick plays!

That was hardly called for.

Besides, if you had posted THIS post in the beginning, I would have been fine with it. But your original post made it look like incoming freshmen receivers would be riding the pine for 2-3 years. Sure kids can read. That was my whole point.
Also, Givens was worked at TE last year, for what that's worth. And Stamps is a headhunter who could wind up at LB.

Yes and for what its worth Mcdanial was never recruited as a wr,so it's not like he will have to change positions. He is veing recruited as a db.Also, most likely D Jones will play on the D side also.To be honest we are not all that deep or strong in the DB deptartment and most true freshmen need to adapt to the speed and physical play of the SEC. D Jones is like a 6 year senior in age, and he already has the speed. Well just my opinion bc as far as I know I am not on the Bama staff.

Didn't I read where it's looking like McDaniel will be qualified? He's a good looking athlete.

Yes,I have heard he is close to qualified....I think he's waiting on his ACT and such. Yes, he is a very good athlete playing Qb at his school which is a huge plus, and as in many others in this class he has a great upside.I believe they are looking hard at him helping us out in the db dept. as I hoped my point was to be taken.

Well I guess you shouldn't assume now should you. Why in the world would I post something negative? Hmmmmm BTW, I am confident our recruits CAN read.

BTW, McDaniel was recruited for his ability to play both positions, if the situation had occurred that we didn't get the WR's we wanted that is where he would end up.

What about Titus Ryan? What happened to him?</font>

He dropped out of school late oct. this effectively made him not eligible. He has since enrolled at Shelton St. or so I was told. If true he may be able to start again next year.
