Do we think Ty wins the Heisman?

That's one perspective you're presenting. Let me present another one for you:
Look at Georgia and Carson Beck.

With all due respect, we didn't know what we had in Simpson in Spring, Summer and it wasn't until Fall Camp that things began to click for Simpson. First game, everyone was ready to write Simpson off, and That's quite a reach to call Simpson a national championship caliber QB right now. Maybe we can say that in November or December. Right now, he's a Heisman candidate playing well and making good decisions for the most parts. He's making NFL throws that most QB can't. He's shooting up the NFL draft board and is playing himself into first round pick. Right now, it's likely he will not come back next year. I cannot see in any circumstance he returns next year. The reason I said that is because back in August during fall camp, it was mentioned barring any changes at last minute, He's 1 and done if he does well.

Russell is going to be fine. He's going to be unknown until he proves that he can be that guy. Ty simpson had to do same thing this year. You can't sacrifice the future... NIL changed the game and how we look at the roster. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.... but for now, I'm pretty sure as long he continues to play well, I don't expect him to be back.
Everyone was ready to write Simpson off? Really?

Not everyone was ready to write him off. I never strayed from my original comments in spring that Ty was going to be something special. There were a few of us actually. People ignored us or just forgot.

Mel Kiper knows less about football than Helen Keller, who is blind, deaf, dumb and oh yeah, DEAD.
I really do not see how this man keeps his job @ ESSPN...evidently being correct is not one of the criteria. So many of his "can't miss" 1st round choices wind up in lesser rounds...it is laughable. Not to mention that his personna on camera is that of a clown.

No.

I mean, he COULD. But let's just be honest and admit straight up that winning the Heisman LARGELY depends on getting media hype. It's not as bad as it was before, oh, about 20 years ago, but it's still a large part of the equation. Being the front-runner does not matter as much as it once did - a Mark Ingram or Johnny Manziel or Derrick Henry can suddenly burst forth into the hype lead in October/November if he has a huge game with a big audience.

Now...if we run the table the rest of the way and win the SEC, he'll at least be a finalist. But I also suspect Auburn - given their history - is likely to not give a hoot if they win the Iron Bowl or not but will plot their strategy to give up 500 yards of rushing but never allow Ty to THROW the ball for yardage. They'll take a 52-0 beating to hold him to 112 yards passing and no TDs.

Go ask Mark Ingram if you don't believe me.
For this very reason , I want to see Ty win it just for the pure meltdown in boogerville!

TY should be in contention for the Trophy,
BUT...
Politics sez he won't get it.

This mindset really needs to be buried at this point.

We’ve had 4 Heisman winners and Multiple finalists in the last 17 years.

We’ve had Back to Back Winners.

We’ve had a WR win a Heisman.

The only time we maybe didn’t win it when we should have was Tua over Murray but it wasn’t egregious.

Ty has a fair shot and if we were to finish 11-1 and win the SECCG I’d be shocked for him not to be Heisman winner.

Even if we finished 10-2 but won the SECCG he’d probably be a finalist.

There are no politics and no conspiracies against Bama.

I’ve been all in on Ty from the moment his recruiting papers were signed.

I’ve been saying he should have been the Starter since the USF game in ‘23.

I know you and several others could see his potential in limited action too.

Anytime any of us spoke out we got nothing but gaslighting about how anything Ty did was meaningless garbage time play.

It was Milroe’s time. Milroe this Milroe that.

Now people want to rush Ty out the door because he’s blocking the shiny things path to playing.

I’m 100% behind Ty being the starter for as long as he wants.

If he goes into the Draft then I wish him well and I hope he goes Top 5.

If he comes back I would excitedly welcome him back.

If QB3 leaves.

BYE.

Straight do not care about Prima Donnas anymore.

Bye

I understand you don't think he's coming back, and if he doesn't then all is good in Bama world. But the scenario being discussed is, "What if he decides to come back, what do you do?"

Kiper (FWIW) has Ty as #16; 3rd QB behind Moore and Mendoza
I'm not a Kiper fan but just so we don't erroneously roast him. He has publicly said (multiple times) that since Ty is an underclassman and he hasn't gotten any indications from people he knows whether Ty is or would come out, that he's purposely keeping him somewhat "down" in his rankings. But if he starts getting "reports" (I guess from his sources) that Ty could likely come out then he would adjust his ranking of him. But he REALLY likes Simpson.

Mendoza looks good, stats maybe slightly better than Ty. Indiana schedule is fairly fluffy from here on out, unless Penn State gets mean again. Beck and Miami‘s remaining games don’t look that exciting either. Alabama definitely has the most challenging remaining schedule; which, to me, equates to more “Heisman moment” opportunities for Ty. Those “moments,” or strong visual memories of great plays, often trump pure stats in Heisman voters’ thinking. I believe Ty already has one (the 4th and 7 to Brooks) with half a season to play..
Agree with what you are saying but I just don’t think he has had the push the other two have this season.

He still bangs the drum for that one time a guy dismissed him (Bill Tobin) and he actually was right. (See below for how wrong he was even this one time).

You know, a broken clock is right twice per day. I recall one year a few years back when Kiper had come out with his big board picks and something like 13 of the first 17 weren't even close and contradicted everything he'd been saying. A few teams he said wouldn't bother to draft a QB did. The four or so he got right, any moron who had seen one season of NFL games would have known were obvious picks.

He's not connected, nobody is telling him ANYTHING, and he's basically a grifter who looks like a 1970s incel.

Btw - even his one moment of glory, when he derided the Colts for NOT drafting Trent Dilfer and said in his smarmy tone, "the Colts are the laughingstock of the league year in and year out".....uh, should I point out THE FACT that the Colts were in the AFC championship game in 1995 after Kiper said this in 1994?

I must have missed that part where Dilfer won a Super Bowl or even made the NFC Championship game with the Bucs (he wasn't the starter in 1999 when they made it, Shawn King was). Dilfer went 38-38, and the Colts (whom he called a laughingstock) were in the playoffs in 1995-96-97 (and were 8-8 in 1994).

1994-1997
COLTS 35-29, 3 playoffs
BUCS 29-35, 1 playoff

Even Dilfer's Super Bowl with the Ravens, what did he have to do with them winning? He signed as a backup to Tony Banks, and he only got the job because he was slightly better than the terrible Banks.

Mel Kiper is an idiot. Full stop.

Meh, by my calculations we should have won 16 straight national championships...

If he wants to come back you welcome him with open arms. Deboer is recruiting the QB position at a high level right now. KR looks to be special but so does some of the other guys that we have coming in down the road. If Ty comes back we will lose either Mack or KR more than likely. If Ty goes into the draft we will lose Mack or KR more than likely. In today's game, you are going to have movement. Ty has shown he can play the game at a very high level. You keep that guy on campus as long as he wants to stay. For 99% of guys I would say they would choose the NFL route if given the chance. Ty has shown that he is different. If anyone decided that they wanted to play one more year in T-Town, it would be him. He has had every reason under the sun to leave Alabama the last two seasons and yet here he is. He may throw three interceptions this week but I will always respect him for at least being a man of his word and being loyal to Alabama.
