Do we think Ty wins the Heisman?

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

That is just wild to me.

He is fantastic, no doubt. But how many of us REALLY thought Ty would be in the running for the Heisman? I mean he is a first year starter.

Wish we could have him for 3 more years...
SEVEN games in as a starter! It's pretty crazy, but shows just how good he's been.

From a passing perspective, I figured he would be an upgrade to Milroe. But I had no idea he would be NFL level passing good. He's made NFL level throws in almost every game. The ESPN NFL analysts are now talking about him potentially moving up into a top ten first round type of pick.

It also shows how poorly we did in evaluating his potential last year while we let Milroe drag the offense down to almost non-functional.

I'm somewhat surprised a reporter hasn't asked CKD "Was he this good last year or did he make an exponential leap of growth from last year to this year?".

or the staff new and there were other things at play that had nothing to do with the on field ability of either

maybe most of the media has figured out, or knows the other things, but also know it's better to not ask.

I don't think there was any evaluation. JM was the returning starter that went to the semi finals of the playoff the previous year. His ability turned out to be fools gold but I believe between the coaching transition and the locker room stuff that was going on CKD used his mulligan year best way he knew how. Not making any excuses for the guy but he had just taken the reigns over from the best college football coach that ever lived. Took him at least a season to get his footing IMHO.

Milroe is a NFL QB now and I expect he got drafted by the Seahawks for the same reason he got the nod at Bama last year (among other reasons): He's such a physical specimen, has such great running ability, and is very much liked by his teammates. If the light ever goes on for even half the things he does poorly he'll be a top notch QB. Deboer and now the Seahawks think the return would be so great that it was worth the risk.

Have to admit my thoughts on this have changed somewhat over time. I've talked myself into this reasonable explanation.

I genuinely thought he would be an All-American but didn't want to say that before there was proof of his in game play to others.

He's been eating up the defense for over 2 years in practice and scrimmages.

He was ready last year.

I wouldn't have predicted Heisman contention because that has so many variables. Team Record, Personal Stats, National Spotlight + 'Heisman Moments' etc.

I think Ty will be invited to NYC for the Heisman ceremony but not sure if he will win it. You know how the media/voters are with that. If he continues to play like he has been then he has a great chance to be invited! I thought he would be good but didn't realize he would be THIS good! Roll Tide! I think he is 1st round if he chooses to go to the NFL next year. He is very smart, high IQ, overall a really good QB.
