Does garden spraying with pepper work?

I have developed a problem over the last two nights. Deer have found my sweet potatoes. I was wondering if anyone had done the thing where you make a tea out of hot peppers and sprayed plants to deter deer. We have tried any number of things in years past for a deterrent (urine, hair, Irish spring soap,, aluminum pans banging around) and they don’t work. Success was found in lead poisoning and an 8’ fence my Dad built around the garden with the only opening right beside his house. Well guess where the sweet potatoes are…🤦🏻‍♂️
Really trying to avoid making more fence in this heat and “hunting is illegal at this time”.

I blended raw eggs, milk, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and water. I spray the blend on my flowers and it seems to be working so far this season. There is a product sold in stores that lists putrescent whole egg solids, clove, and garlic oil as the active ingredients.

I've found only one thing to keep the deer out of my garden. It is a "body splash" at DG scented "Japanese Blossom." It stinks to high heaven, but it works. They would probably make more money marketing a deer repellent than some cheap body splash.
