Most have probably heard Shula's comments that the New England Patriots, if they go undefeated, should have an asterisk by their achievement.

Yahoo's Wetzel even makes a nice little link to Alabama, Saban, and his son:

"Shula Off Base"

I know I will be pulling for the Pats to run the table this year.

He just doesn't want anyone to take "his" record away.
Maybe they should put an * next to their record since they played a 14 game regular season.

I guess those clowns that get together every year and drink champagne after the last remaining undefeated team loses are getting nervous.

It starts, naturally, with Belichick. One of the Pats coach's closest friends and chief protégés is Nick Saban, who took over the Dolphins from 2005-06, ran them into the ground, fled in a heap of lies only to replace Shula's own son, Mike, at Alabama

yep Saban ran the dolphins into the ground

Heck, I'm suprised he didn't tie this into Coach Saban in some way. When Florida State used the "towel episode" to hide signals from the Alabama sideline, 'Nole fans urged its because of Saban's ties to Belichick.

Looking at New England's remaining schedule:

-Buffalo: Should be a win
-Philadelphia: Looking like a bloodbath
-Baltimore: Will be dead in the water if they can't score
-Pittsburgh: The biggest threat remaining to New England running the table
-New York Jets: The Patriots' Revenge... I can't imagine the carnage that New England will bring to the Jets
-Miami: Shula's words will bring the Dolphins utter misery
-New York Giants: A very interesting game to close the season, although few will see it since it will be on the NFL Network.

The last four games for New England will be key. With a win over Buffalo on Sunday, they will be 10-0 with 6 games remaining. The magic number for them to clinch the AFC East would be two, which would be accomplished with wins over Philadelphia and Baltimore. They'd be 12-0 going into the game against Pittsburgh. The question is - when do they clinch home-field? If they clinch it with the win against the Jets, what do they do in the Miami game? Do they get revenge for Shula's words? Do they risk injuries to run the table?

Honestly, I think Belicheck and company are on a mission to punish the entire NFL at this point, and if given the opportunity within reason and low risk of injury, they'll run the table. They are like a horde of barbarians burning every village they come across.

Man... New England is going to THROTTLE Miami when they play again this season.

A winless Miami speaks volumes about the job Saban did while he was there!
I've always been a Dolphins fan but hearing papa Shula whine the past year i hope the Pats crush the fins and break the winless record.

Hank Aaron had a beef - but he was classy enough not to get involved with all of the talk. Don Shula will keep talking until the Patriots lose or win em all. I really hope the Pats crush all of their opponents this year. You aren't going to make me believe that having tapes of other teams signals makes that much of a difference.... guess what, teams constantly change their signals to minimize any spying. It's part of the game. The Patriots have been great because they understand playing like a TEAM, not some video tapes.

Someone tell him his steaks are burning.

He has much more important things to worry about these days, like who he can lambaste about his sons coaching inadequacies.

Somebody who knows and cares about Don Shula should convince him not to take reporter calls or interview requests anymore. Writers notoriously keep going back to bitter, cranky old guys who used to be "somebody" in search of a crazy quote. Don Shula should be remembered as the great coach he was; not for the bitter ramblings that are becoming more frequent.

I never really thought he as great a coach as he got credit for. He pretty much inherited a Dolphin team that was about ready to start winning. He won his two SBs with that team and never won another for the rest of his 22 years as the Dolphin's HC. I did however respect him as a person. No more though. He's just a sad, bitter old guy unwilling to give up the spotlight.

yeah. he's really fallen in my opinion.

boo hoo...you fired my son for being totally mediocre. boo hoo...somebody might go undefeated.

he's losing it.

Unfortunately, while I walked into the building this morning, I managed to step in a pile of dog pooh. Upon looking at it, I can't believe myself, it's the spitting image of Don Shula.

:)

I'm not sure why Shula or any other Dolphin coach or player from 1972 would really even care what the Patriots do. Noboby will ever be able to take away or minimize what the Fins did. I agree with somebody else on this thread who said they were shocked that Shula didn't find a way to blame Saban or Alabama for the Patriots' success this year.

A shame really. I thought a lot of CDS at one time. Now he is nothing but a bubbling blathering idiot. I wonder if that nutri-system has something in it that makes you go nuts. Maybe it should be recalled.
