I understand your view but we had 3 or the top 10 until the Barn flipped two and one went to OSU ($). The Barn staff played on the minds of the Alabama recruits by telling them Bama just wanted and careed only for the Cali kids. You have to remember we had a whole new staff that did not know most of the kids, parents and high school coaches. In-state recruiting will improve once relationships get better established and is already getting better with a couple of good in-state players already committed in the '26 and '27 classes.
I just want the best players on the team. Just because a kid is from Alabama doesn't mean he's going to play any harder than a kid from out of state. Our hearts want to believe that but with today's athletes, that's just not the case. Mark Ingram was from the north and I can't think of another Alabama player who bleeds crimson more than he does.

Need to understand too that this staff has been recruiting on the West Coast for years. They may not have gotten them if they were still at UW but they jumped to be part of this first class at Bama. Also, hard to make inroads with kids you are meeting for the first time. Just gotta be patient. They will come.

And I see we got 2 DL's and 2 Edge players.......how's the DL looking for next year? We need a couple of gamechangers on the DL.
Depth chart wise pretty packed room (pre portal) i would be surprised if we don't look for an interior DL or edge in the portal....but would be surprised if we go after any big money guys.

Dl is one where a freshmen is very rarely making a huge impact unless its as a NT or a pass rush specialist. Henry and Steve M have JUCO experience and should push for playing time quickly.

Simmons is very interesting. As a NT he may see the field next year more than people would expect for a 3 star. But could redshirt if we find a better guy in the portal.

Hill will play at some point. Likely needs a year to add some size, has 4 good player in front of him now so will likley red shirt

I see Auburn completely cleaned our clocks on in-state recruiting this year.

They got 9 of the top 11 kids in Alabama. Oregon and Ohio State got the other 2.

We recruit nationally, yes, but we didn't sprinkle in a lot of in-state guys this year at all.

Hopefully that changes with our staff making more connections from year to year.

It's unfortunate but probably unavoidable. Auburn was utterly bereft of talent so this is the second cycle they have been selling "immediate playing time" to these guys. Pair that with Alabama having some guy from out west. There was no way they weren't going to take advantage. These two situations won't last. For one after two big recruiting cycles they can't reasonably sell immediate playing time and DeBoer will build the relationships in state. Remember Saban was from West Virginia. He wasn't a good ol boy.

As others have stated as well, getting the local boy doesn't mean what it used to. These kids are way more "worldly" than past generations. When playing time doesn't come or they don't like the taste of the meat loaf in the football building they will bail just like anybody else.

They did it with overpaying NIL and flat out lying...and still have a lower ranked class and losing season.

I tell you what with all these posts regarding auburn and their last two Top 10 class, reading their boards, most barn fans who are on the fence when Freeze was hired are only giving him grace because of his " recuiting prowress". If he doesn’t win more than 8 games next season with two full classes under the belt, the detractors will be out in full force. Something else to remember, Texas a&m had the #1 Cla$$ several years ago, and we all saw the end results. I look forward to multiple transfers from the barn in the next several years to come.

I believe I read that Meadows will sign at 5:30 pm. Not sure what time zone he is in.

Didn't offend me. Its just a case of the "poor mes"

Imagine if offord had been committed to us for a year just to throw our hat in the crowd at a Birmingham school. Because he did that to Aubie today and its hilarious.

Instead we went to cali and got lee and McDonald, who both had the same potential, and despite rumors neither of them even blinked.

Caring more about the folks that wanted to go elsewhere IS offensive, to folks who WANT to play at Bama and don't need a 7 figure guarantee even though they've never played a down in the sec.

And im sorry, I shouldn't have come off so rough. Its just Tireing to hear barn propaganda working so well with our own fans.
Take the players who want to be at Bama, no matter where they are from

Hugh Freeze just has to figure out how to beat Alabama and/ or maybe Georgia.
