I can’t stand Dan Mullen. I think he did Florida and miss state programs dirty. lazy recruiter who took stock in moral victories and thought he was the smartest guy in the room.He will fit right in with their other studio anal cysts. I mean analysts
My Bama son bought tickets for us all for this game...coming from South Carolina for the first game in 5 years. We're in the end zone but in some special area that includes food, etc....going to be fun taking our granddaughters to their first Bama game.I like the Bama-Utah State Game at 6:30 on 9/3 to maybe beat some heat, but also because evening/night games at Bryant Denny always seem to have a different atmosphere of fun. I used to think that was due to all-day imbibing vs half day (self included) but I don’t see near as much of that these days and the games that start later In the day still seem to be more fun to attend (or watch on TV).
Looking at a Utah St pre season write up, they look like a good Mountain West team. They were 11-3 last year and won the LA Bowl over Oregon St. Lot of returnees from that team.
Those tix are probably in “the Zone,” which includes a buffet, nice seatbacks, a covered seated lounge area behind the seats. Have a great time! I’ll be within shouting distance of you RTR!My Bama son bought tickets for us all for this game...coming from South Carolina for the first game in 5 years. That game stood out to me . Could be an indicator for how long their coach will be there?Nebraska must be hoping for Irish luck. They sure could use some.
I disagree with this - at least where it concerns Mississippi State. I can't address Florida because I wasn't there, and it seems reasonable to conclude recruiting SHOULD be light years easier in Florida than in Mississippi.I can’t stand Dan Mullen. I have heard that anecdote as well...not uncommon for teams to hide a star player during the days just before signing. Supposedly UA did that with Johnny Davis when UGA and Clemson were looking for him...told to me by a former CU line coach.I disagree with this - at least where it concerns Mississippi State. Dan Mullen appeared more than once at my high school, back in the sticks of Mississippi. While it is TRUE that my HS teams were largely terrible, we had a few good players from time to time. Mullen actually showed up AT THE SCHOOL during football games to observe and recruit, particularly say if MSU had an off-week that Saturday (since the games are on Friday night). He did that with A LOT of Mississippi high schools that have never even had an assistant show up to observe. And bear in mind, think what you want about him, he DID take that team to it's first ever #1 ranking in any football poll ever.
So while I cannot in any way address Florida - and let's face it, the state is a whole lot larger and recruiting much more competitive than MS - he absolutely worked his tail off in Mississippi to build what for that school with their resources was a pretty good team. Remember - Saban is about the only guy he couldn't beat. That's not too shabby.
Anecdote: y'all remember Don Smith, the MSU Bulldog quarterback who was all-SEC back in the mid-80s and scored the first touchdown in Super Bowl 25 (and later went to prison)? I'm reliably told by an accurate source that Coach Bryant was trying to recruit Smith, whose high school team won 54 straight games that began while he was there, to run the wishbone.
And they couldn't find him because Emory Bellard was hiding him.

The way he has been reportedly/rumored to be doing in camp. It would be like trying to hide Godzilla while he is wrecking Tokyo.I'm Bama didn't try to hide Jaheim Oatis.
Yes, I've heard Utah St. is supposed to be a pretty solid football team. They certainly shouldn't beat us, but they may be good enough to make people start mumbling in the stands a little bit.I like the Bama-Utah State Game at 6:30 on 9/3 to maybe beat some heat, but also because evening/night games at Bryant Denny always seem to have a different atmosphere of fun. Brett's is better. He usually adds a Mowens alert. This has been my go to schedule for a few years. Concise with lots of info and regenerates itself every week. Remember all times are MT. https://web.nmsu.edu/~ogden/oregon/MY_tv_schedule.php
All this new math is really confusing to me...I'm sorry but calling opening week "Week 0" is the same kind of counting that has 10 teams in the Big 12 and fourteen in the Big 10.
