Eddie Williams gets his Rivals 5th star!!

Wow. At 6'4", Eddie might be the tallest safety we've ever had, if he stays at that position. He would be able to get the altitude and defend against some of the tall wide receivers we play against.

Bama had a 6'5" safety in the 80's but I can not remember his name.

I believe from the Carolinas...was tall and lanky.......pretty good though.

You are correct. He is from Anderson, SC and played at Bama from '86 - '89.

Sheesh. Just a freak of a safety. He swoops around breaking up passes like a freaky shot-blocker protecting the rim.

I don't know what his man coverage skills are like (and it's unusual to see safeties so tall), but he looks fantastic.

Whats even crazier is these highlights came from his junior season!!!

TI wrote an article on Williams this morning. He said he will be playing receiver at Bama. He said he and CNS have talked about his position and that Bama is lacking a big WR since Julio left. He feels like receiver would fit him best in the future, and he thinks he can bring something to the offense.

all prognosticators off the gumbo payroll seem to think he bama bound. some of our recruits do as well. But as we know recruiting is very fluid.

It was an LSU 2 pt conversion attempt in Baton Rouge. He picked it off right at the goal line. I was at the game, fell asleep by the time he reached the 50. I remember Keith McCants slobberknocking one of their "O" lineman on a block on the return. It was in '89 under Curry.

I don't doubt that CNS has told Williams that he will play WR at Bama and I know that he will be an outstanding WR. I personally would love to see him as a free safety at Bama along with Collins at strong safety. Defense wins championships.
