Favorite country lyrics.

I got a good woman at home
Who thinks I do no wrong
but sometimes lord
she just aint always around
and dont ya know thats when I fall
and I cant help myself at all
and i get whiskey bent
and hell bound.

Come here baby would you look at this
Looks like a letter from the IRS
We kinda got a little bit above our means
ya better start soakin them pinto beans

I dont know who sings that song but I think its called home sweet home

Wish I was down on some blue bayou,
With a bamboo cane stuck in the sand.
But the road I'm on, don't seem to go there,
So I just dream, keep on bein' the way I am.
Wish I enjoyed what makes my living,
Did what I do with a willin' hand.
Some would run, ah, but that ain't like me.
So I just dream and keep on bein' the way I am.

The way I am, don't fit my shackles.
The way I am, reality.
I can almost see that bobber dancin',
So I just dream, keep on bein' the way I am.

The way I am, don't fit my shackles.
The way I am, reality.
I can almost see that bobber dancin',
So I just dream, keep on bein' the way I am.

I just dream, keep on bein' the way I am.

All-time .... Kenny Rogers - "She Believes in Me"

While she lays sleeping, I stay out late at night and play my songs
And sometimes all the night can be so long
And it's good when I finally make it home, all alone
While she lays dreaming, I try to get undressed without the light
And quietly she says how was your night?
And I come to her and say, it was all right, and I hold her tight

And she believes in me, I'll never know just what she sees in me
I told her someday if she was my girl, I could change the world
With my little songs, I was wrong
But she has faith in me, and so I go on trying faithfully
And who knows maybe on some special night, if my song is right
I will find a way, find a way...

While she lays waiting, I stumble to the kitchen for a bite
Then I see my old guitar in the night
Just waiting for me like a secret friend, and there's no end
While she lays crying, I fumble with a melody or two
And I'm torn between the things that I should do
And she says to wake her up when I am through,
God her love is true...

And she believes in me, I'll never know just what she sees in me
I told her someday if she was my girl, I could change the world
With my little songs, I was wrong
But she has faith in me, and so I go on trying faithfully
And who knows maybe on some special night, if my song is right
I will find a way, while she waits... while she waits for me!

thankfully, I can't relate, but I like the T.G. Shepard version of this song better than the Hank version:

I Come Home Late At Night
With My Boots In My Hand
Stumble In The Back Door
Being Quite As I Can
And I Know She's There In Bed
Cold And All Alone
And She's Cryin'
Because I'm Breaking Up Our Home

Chorus:
And She Knows
The Hell I'm Going Through
In This World
Inside My Head
There's A Devil
In The Bottle
And He Want's
To See Me Dead

I Fall Into Her Arms
And She Helps Me With My Clothes
I Guess She Stays On With Me
Because She Really Knows
That I'm Tryin' Lord
To Find My Freedom
By Escaping To The Only
Freedom I've Ever Known

Repeat Chorus

Yes,There's A Devil
In The Bottle
And He Want's
To See Me Dead

And It's Killing Her
Watching Me Die This Way

My wife, the other women and the whiskey's killin' me
The first two makes it so that I see red, the other one makes it so that I can't see
If I have half a brain left after my debauchery
I'd give up the other women and my double u Eye F E

She lets her walkin' do her talkin'. She's a brilliant conversationalist.

He was dressed like 1950, half drunk and hollow-eyed
said 'it's a long walk to Nashville would you like ride, son'.
I sat down in the front seat, and he turned on the radio
and them sad ol' songs comin' outta them speakers was solid country gold.
Then I noticed the stranger was ghost white pale when he asked me for a light
And I knew there was something strange about this ride.

These lyrics bring back some memories...

I've had to fire up the MP3s of D.A.C., The Possum, Bocepheus, Merle, etc. I haven't listened to Country music in about 15 years, but here's one by the Statler Brothers I really like.

It was penned when they visited the Vietnam War Memorial at night.
I saw her from a distance
As she walked up to the wall
in her hand she held some flowers
as her tears began to fall
and she took out pen and paper
as to trace her memories
and she looked up to heaven
and the words she said were these...

She said Lord my boy was special,
and he meant so much to me
and Oh I'd love to see him
just one more time you see
All I have are the memories
and the moments to recall

So Lord could you tell him,
He's more than a name on a wall..

She said he really missed the family
and being home on Christmas day
and he died for God and Country
in a place so far away

I remember just a little boy
playing war since he was three
But Lord this time I know,
He's not coming home to me

And she said Lord my boy was special,
and he meant so much to me
and Oh I'd love to see him
But I know it just can't be
So I thank you for my memories
and the moments to recall

But Lord could you tell him,
He's more than a name on a wall..

Lord could you tell him,
He's more than a name on a wall..

One of my favorite songs too

He said.. this is where you get off boy..cause im going back to Alabam
As I stepped out of that cadillac, I said mister, many thanks
he said you dont have to call me mister, mister
The whole world called me hank.
