Down to the final 9 games. Does Bama make a surprise surge or end with the highly expected face-busting flop?

2 Weeks ago I would have said that 5 wins would have been hugely successful. With two wins amassed I could see Bama winning 3 of the last 9. The following schedule is certainly not favorable:

@ Mississippi St. (playing shaky ball since getting ranked. Blown out by 20 at Ark. and close loss at home to Tenn.-sound familiar?)

@ Kentucky (3 straight wins- 4 after Auburn and beat Tenn.)

OLE MISS (lost 3 of 4 but destroyed No. 18 Vandy-always tough to play at home)

@ South Carolina (lost 5 of 7, hard to gauge- lose to UNC-Asheville beat OleMiss???

@ Auburn (playing most teams close but still just as erratic as Bama-depends on which team shows up)

ARKANSAS (This game is worrisome. After back to back losses Ark. has destroyed three straight teams)

@ Ole Miss- (see above)

@ LSU (Beat Auburn on the road, almost beat Bama, this team is maturing quickly and I think will be much stronger when Bama sees them in BR)

VANDERBILT (Stopped the bleeding after losing 4 of 5. Still a good team that AL always has trouble with...probably because they are well coached;))

I see a very tough stretch ahead. It's truly sad but I would be grateful to make the NIT this year.

Prediction: 2-7 to finish

Overall: 15-16

No NIT

well if it plays out like that then it will get interessting for sure.

The team is playng D better along wth more hustle.

Man, unfortunating I think you may be right. But, if we could somehow play up to our potential- We can win 5 of these games. I know that may sound ridiculous- I predicted a 5 win SEC season in a little more than a week ago- but it can happen. Would be surprising nonetheless but it could be done. Miss, AU, LSU again, USC isn't unbeatable and neither is Vandy, Ark at home? Come on, we can do this. 7-9 in the SEC, 18-13 overall. Probably wouldn't make the tourney with that kind of mark but we'd get an NIT invitation. I am hoping for the best......

I don't know, we've actually been playing much better as of late, I think. We blew out Auburn, beat LSU, had a good game against a very good Tennessee team, and played MSU very tough.

I'm not expecting anything great, but we will probably beat LSU since Brady was fired, and we'll probably pull out a couple of more wins. I wouldn't be totally shocked if we pulled off a slight upset.

I imagine we go either 3-6 or 4-5, which would put us at 16-15 or 17-14. The smart money, I think, is on either 16-15 or 15-16.

Either way, I do not think we make the NIT, nor do I think we deserve to make the NIT.

I forgot about OM's struggles in conference play this year. They remind of Bama's teams when we first got CMG. Play nobody and build up a lot of wins but struggle mightily when playing quality teams.

I thought this might be one of the 2 wins I predicted Bama would finish with. South Carlonia might be the other. I just don't see another win on the road. Vandy, yikes. LSU there. I told you they were growing up fast--see Florida win in Gainesville.

Arkansas looked bad on the road. Maybe Bama can get them on an off night. We will see.

I thought 4-5 wins when this thread was started. I sorta expected the 2 losses so far. We stand a good chance to beat SC, Auburn and LSU. We are as good or better than them. We have a slim chance of beating the other teams. Decent chance of beating Miss again on the road. So I think at least 4 wins out of these last 9 regular season games (3/6 left now). Hopefully better..

Bama could win all of those games but they won't. CMG's teams are horrible on the road for the most part. This is especially true in conference play. LSU will beat Bama in BR. They are maturing rapidly and have a lot of raw talent. SC and Auburn will be Bama's best road win chances and I have Ark. as another possible win @ home, but that depends on which Arkansas team decides to show.

My predictions:

Wishful thinking...we go 6-0 in our last SEC games, win the SEC Tournament, win six games in the "big dance" and get our first NC in basketball !!!

Reality...we go 2-4 in our last six SEC games, with wins against Auburn on the road and Arkansas at home, and losses to So. Carolina, Ole Miss, and LSU on the road, and Vandy at home. We go 1-1 in the SEC Tournament (simply because our first round game will be against a lower echelon SEC team). We end up 17-16, we have no post season play, and we wait for football.

Yea, yea. I know about the road troubles. I didn't specifically say we'd would beat SC, Auburn and LSU. Just that'd those would be more likely. We could lose 1-2 of them and win 1-2 of the others and still get the 3 wins out of the last 6 I'm predicting.
