Thanks for the vulgar name calling. You can substitute with as many x's as you would like, but it means the same thing in my book. I don't care if Va Tech lost to Miami last year. I know they weren't a great team last year. The fact is they went 10-4 with a fairly young team, won an overrated ACC, and won the Orange Bowl against a decent Cincy team. They have several offensive starters back including QB, RB, most WR's, and most of the OL. Defensively, they have I believe 9 of 11 starters back. They will be seasoned and a year better with almost all "key" positions back and intact. Beamer ball may not be the same, but he's still a great coach and will have a better football team next year. We need to concentrate on how to beat Va Tech because they are the first opponent that we will see and a darn good one at that. Ole Miss and LSU will be worried about at a later date.
VT is not in the national picture. They will loose at least 2 ACC game in 09.
Book it. UM and UNC will destroy this team... We will do the same.

It's hard to say that a team that will be in the preseason top 10 won't be in the national picture. Anybody who knows "anything" about college football knows that the Hokies will have a great opportunity to have very good football team this year. But I hope that you are right and that we will destroy them. rtr

I look for Ole Miss to be a dog fight, depending how we are focused could come down to the last play. They want to beat us bad.

ole miss may turn out to be tough, but despite the notion that Ed the Ogre recruited so well, he didn't recruit a lot of depth at O-line and that catches up to them this year. I think we, as BAMA fans, know EXACTLY what a porous and inexperienced O-line means for an offense.

and nutt is always nutt. i think they will play us tough, but i don't think they'll end up atop the SEC west

Yeah, Nutt's M.O. always seems to be win a couple he's not supposed to, but also lose a couple he's not supposed to. I just have a gut feeling that Ole Miss won't turn out to be anywhere near as good as people expect this year.

I have mixed feelings on Ole Miss. On the one hand, I see that they do have some playmakers (Hardy) and some leadership (Snead). On the other, their lines will be weaker, especially their Offensive line and our defensive line will be much better. Their weaker defensive line should play into our running game well and their weak secondary should open up the passing game as well.

In that respect, I say it is a close game like Finebaum says, but going the other way with Bama pulling out another close one. Of course, I put on my crimson colored glasses once spring practice began.

I personally feel that our team this season will be the best team we've had since 92.

We will be a good ball control offense with some explosive ability at the wideout position.

Defensively we're going to be exceptionally difficult to score against.

As far as "toughest games" I'd say Va. Tech, LSU and Auburn.

Anyone who thinks we're going to waltz into Jordan-Hare and have a cakewalk is terribly mistaken in my opinion.

LSU is as talented as we are, probably more so.

Beamer will have Va. Tech chomping at the bit and they'll be in Atlanta with the intention of winning with defense and special teams. It'll be tough.

As far as Ole Miss.....Nahhh? For Nutt's offenses to have success they absolutely have to be able to run the ball and I just can't see them running effectively against us. I don't see this game being close.
If Cody doesn't go down last year we would have beaten them by 30.

I think we go 12-0 again possibly. 11-1 probably, 10-2 at worst.
