I can only say one word...Terry Grant. He is one fast player. It was nice to everyone out there and the coaches actually coaching the players. The kickoffs need a lot of work and field goals were average. The offensive line played pretty good and Javier would have ran at least one punt back but was the play was called dead when he broke away to save time I guess. It was wierd seeing BDS completely empty except for the few parents that were allowed to be there. Also it was really funny to see the media shuffled out after about 5 minutes of stretching.

It appears Coffee was #1 with Johns out. It looks like Taylor is getting a chance to shine, and as I said from the coaching clinic, he impressed me. Grant will be utilized out of the backfield to catch passes, I do believe. He is best in space.

Motley with 11 tackles and 3 for loss from the NG position. :biggrin2:

3 sacks doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy, but they're improving.

CNS applauded several guys.

Hey man, that's two words, but who's counting?:biggrin2: Awesome update man. We appreciate it!

I appreciate it, I was privledged to be in the stadium today as I will be on Saturday's scrimmage next week and I'll bring my digital camera for that one. I'll be sure to leave formations, and other valuable info. out so I don't get in trouble. Coffee looks stacked and I was mostly inpressed by the coaching that was being done on the field. The days of standing there with arms crossed are over. Very vocal, very loud, very in your face. I love it. Roll Tide Roll

What's the story with Johns?

It is good to see Motley have a good scrimmage. It's great news that he stepped up considering our needs in the d-line. I thought he would be a d-lineman from the time he signed out of high school. Hopefully, he's found a home.

5 pass completions to tight ends. I rather like that. Surely one of the most under-utilized position on our team for a long time.

It seems Mr. Johns is spending more time with the books right now.

Indeed, the most under-utilized positions in all of college football. Wouldn't it be great for Alabama to bring back that great weapon...THE TIGHT ENDS! Almost always open on a button-hook or across the middle.:BigA: :BigA: :BigA:

Three things I love...

51 pass plays to 34 rushing. Looks like it might not be Applewhite's "spread" but certainly not the "balanced" offense of Shula.

Saban's comments in the PC - "we moved the ball well in the red area"

The fact that we have a coach who will hold out his #1 RB for not living up to his commitments. He was also PO'd that we had discipline violations in our first scrimmage of the spring - good signs that we are going to be a VERY disciplined team come September.

One of my concerns is that our defense is going to be too physically weak in the front 7 area to give the offense a good look, I think they have a long way to go on D, every snaps going to count, on through the fall, even into the first warmup game. I think Saban is right, seeing improvement every day is the most important thing right now.

As for the redzone problems, I think those were a function of just plain ignorant coaching, if we had spread the field out in the redzone last year with formation Casteel would have eaten that up. Last year was a gigantic waste.
