Fox news commentator, Col. Ralph Peters, quits Fox spectacularly (hey you can edit)

yes, this is the guy that famously called Obama a <insert slang for female genitalia here>

His message in full

On March 1st, I informed Fox that I would not renew my contract. The purpose of this message to all of you is twofold:

First, I must thank each of you for the cooperation and support you've shown me over the years. Those working off-camera, the bookers and producers, don't often get the recognition you deserve, but I want you to know that I have always appreciated the challenges you face and the skill with which you master them.

Second, I feel compelled to explain why I have to leave. Four decades ago, I took an oath as a newly commissioned officer. I swore to "support and defend the Constitution," and that oath did not expire when I took off my uniform. Today, I feel that Fox News is assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law, while fostering corrosive and unjustified paranoia among viewers. Over my decade with Fox, I long was proud of the association. Now I am ashamed.

In my view, Fox has degenerated from providing a legitimate and much-needed outlet for conservative voices to a mere propaganda machine for a destructive and ethically ruinous administration. When prime-time hosts--who have never served our country in any capacity--dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the FBI, the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller--all the while scaremongering with lurid warnings of "deep-state" machinations-- I cannot be part of the same organization, even at a remove. To me, Fox News is now wittingly harming our system of government for profit.

As a Russia analyst for many years, it also has appalled me that hosts who made their reputations as super-patriots and who, justifiably, savaged President Obama for his duplicitous folly with Putin, now advance Putin's agenda by making light of Russian penetration of our elections and the Trump campaign. Despite increasingly pathetic denials, it turns out that the "nothing-burger" has been covered with Russian dressing all along. And by the way: As an intelligence professional, I can tell you that the Steele dossier rings true--that's how the Russians do things.. The result is that we have an American president who is terrified of his counterpart in Moscow.

I do not apply the above criticisms in full to Fox Business, where numerous hosts retain a respect for facts and maintain a measure of integrity (nor is every host at Fox News a propaganda mouthpiece--some have shown courage). I have enjoyed and valued my relationship with Fox Business, and I will miss a number of hosts and staff members. You're the grown-ups.

Also, I deeply respect the hard-news reporters at Fox, who continue to do their best as talented professionals in a poisoned environment. These are some of the best men and women in the business..

So, to all of you: Thanks, and, as our president's favorite world leader would say, "Das vidanya."

Agree with this.

Hey Ralph....I don’t think Fox News has changed....this sounds like you hate Trump. But this Fox is the same Fox in place when Obama was in office. Sounds to me that what changed was the recipient of the Propaganda.

Many years ago Rush Limbaugh told his audience that he’d be better off with Clinton as President instead of a Republican because his ratings were always best with a Dem in the WH. Same applies.....you loved Fox when Obama was there.

Now, not so much

Men his age seldom have epiphanies....but they do lose their filters. Perhaps his filter has worn off.

did you even read either piece? Fox wasn't lying for Trump while Obama was in office until late in the campaign when they starting having to, so Peters got shoved in a corner as no one at Fox wanted Peters on the air contradicting the party line. You are correct that he was happy to spread Fox's propaganda for a long time prior t that. It doesn't feel like propaganda when you agree with it I suppose.

If you can't see the change in the GOP and Fox since Trump then you need to step back and reevaluate. Both have turned, for the worse and both were already pretty bad

From your steadfast defense of Fox News and of Mr. Trump, I can only infer that you believe what they say about issues. So If I may, I would like to ask you if you support these ideas constantly expressed by Fox and by Trump.
1. There is a deep conspiracy within the various branches of the American Government (apparently led by Democrats, I guess, as Trump disdains any enmity from Russia) that has as it goal the embarrassment of Trump and his ultimate removal.
2. The Mainstream Media (newspapers, TV) is corrupt and biased to the extent that they make up "Fake News" with the same goals as above.
3. The scientific community is also corrupt, and publishes studies that are unsupported by the facts.
4. The FBI and the Department of Justice have been infiltrated by enemies of MR. Trump, and no longer are to be trusted.
5. Ditto to all the intelligence services.
6. It is not relevant to one's fitness to lead the free world that Trump feels that lies and taking credit for things that he had no part in bringing about are perfectly OK.
7. Nor is it in the least problematic that he conceals his financial information while failing to distance himself from profiting from his position.
8. Groping, kissing, feeling up women without their consent is OK.
9. It is perfectly normal and ethical to require non-disclosure agreements with women after having adulterous sex with them.
10. When making appointments to lead cabinet positions and other high ranking jobs, loyalty takes precedence over qualifications.

If you and Bazza actually subscribe to most of the above views of how our leaders should behave, then I can fully understand your unwavering support of this president.

Otherwise, not so much...

I am tired of these clickbait headlines. This is not quitting “spectacularly”. This is just quitting and saying a bunch of stuff. Pooping on the bosses desk, setting your desk on fire, grabbing hawtest chick and sticking your tongue down her throat and flipping everyone off and telling them all to burn in Hell and then breaking a chair through the window and parachuting out to the ground, now that is quitting spectacularly.

I’ve always enjoyed reading LTC (not COL) Peters’ articles ever since he was writing for the Army War College as a young major. On TV, his takes on contemporary events are almost as compelling as his writing.
He always has been thought provoking and will find an outlet for his voice. He makes you work a little bit to listen to him. I love that he is not reluctant to speak and write words that are not common in conversational vocabulary—he’s like Dwight Yoakam and Dennis Miller that way.
He has a great mind, and when he’s on TV you can watch him sifting through a thousand thoughts before he speaks. So, if he’s ticked at FOX News, they should probably listen to his complaint.
