I'm a fan of Finebaum. And it disgusts me that their fan base acted the way that they did to him and the other gentleman. Sure all teams have "those" fans but it seems that said fans are Georgia's majority. Someone actually phoned in warning him on his show that it was going to be bad. =/

One fun thing about being an off duty police officer is when you're minding your own business and things like this happen. They immediately get a nice view of the pavement and then come to realize that they did something pretty stupid to a guy with handcuffs and a gun. Oh yeah, and then they goto jail after their team loses.

I watched an Alabama State Trooper about the size of Mt. Cody nail a Georgia Fan in the chest with two fingers when the MDB went to Athens 5 years ago. That idiot had thrown a full beer can then a full beer bottle at our bus as we were leaving the game. After he bounced off the sidewalk, Officer Cody (I don't want to use his real name) zip-tied him and turned him over to the Georgia authorities.

That campus is the only campus on which I have ever felt in physical danger.

Last year some truly offensive Auburn fans threw things at a few of our buses (after they WON and we were leaving), but I don't recall anything worse than that. Last year was my first year in the band, so I've never been to LSU, but all of the veterans say that we have to really watch our backs in Baton Rouge.

Our State Troopers ROCK. I know JUST who you are talking about and he's absolutely amazing. Great man... really watches out for us.

I know that same trooper - he's been with the band forever - I once saw two 12-year olds @ South Carolina throwing stuff at our band. From behind them came the trooper who firmly grabbed them by the shoulders and said - in a voice much like Michael Clark Duncan in The Green Mile - "I think you should say you're sorry, little white boys."

I swear - I've never seen two twelve year olds simultaneously soil themselves.
I'm pretty sure I know this trooper as well. He is a friend of the family and I went to school with his kids. Class Act.

I really hate to hear things like this. I have lots of friends who attended UGA, and several who work for the university. I've always found UGA fans, in general to be classy and respectful.

But there are dunderheads in EVERY fanbase (yes, including our own), and it's a shame they're the ones that get the "press" and not the ones who are hospitable and demonstrate good sportsmanship.
DEFINITELY our own too! I bring friends of mine from other schools and I always have to VOUCH for or stand up for my friends. A little good natured ribbing is expected AND funny, but come on...there is no need to be belligerent.

I hope their fans stew in the loss for a very, very long time. Read some of their forums...Bama isn't that good, UGA would have won with another 5 minutes, had the roughing penalty not been called on the first series UGA would have won, etc. Eat it UGA fans.

Yeh "WHAT IF" is the key word WHAT IF BAMA would have stayed strong in the second half and put 31 more points on the board. Like Saban said there is only 60 minutes in a game so the what if factor shouldnt even come up.. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!! Lets get ready for Kentucky and play 60 minutes and score big!!!!! :BigA::BigA::BigA::BigA::BigA:

I was in the band then. We also had whiskey and change thrown on us in the stands. Trooper "Cody" got after those people too. We loved our Troopers!!!

Generally speaking, I've seen it worsen (fans at all schools) with each new generation.

I agree totally. At last years Bama/FSU game, I saw behavior...mean spirited, nasty behavior, that I have not witnessed at a college game. I had FSU "fans" run up in my face and scream how Bama
SUCKED and that we needed to give our coach a raise. That was just before I saw a pack of FSU thugs run up and sucker punch a Bama fan in the back of the head. That was all I could take...I won't comment on what happened next.
