Georgia Tech vs North Carolina

Anybody watching this game? Georgia Tech is really in control but had a turnover (fumble) in the redzone, just threw a pick (however NC threw a pick right back), and missed a FG so they are only up 10-7 with 5min left in the 2nd. Surprisingly GT's defense has basically shut NC down.

Personally I just enjoy watching Paul Johnson's Flexbone work it's magic and GT's offense has been on fire. Their TD was a 60yd bomb to a wide open receiver off a fake counter play. If only they can stop the turnovers...

Georgia Tech's problem is they can't afford to get down and come back. When they were down to NC State last year every time they dropped back to pass it looked like their O-line was just opening up flood gates, because NC State KNEW they were going to be passing. Then the announcers said something that blew my mind....that they were at a couple of Tech's practices and they NEVER practiced pass blocking. I get it, it's a run oriented offense, but to NEVER practice pass blocking? They can't win games when they get down because they can't protect their QB.

Yep that's the achilles heal of their offense. I've got to say they look MUCH better this season than last (granted they haven't played great teams yet). Much more explosive in the passing game and, IMO, their defense was the problem. If you run a clock control, running offense, your defense can't let the other team score every possession, it is really counter productive....

I remember lobbying hard on this site for Paul Johnson when we were looking for a coach (thank God for Coach Moore's tenacity for bringing Nick home that faithful day). Yes, I love the triple option too. Combined with a dominant D this is a thing of beauty.
