I know it is a little early but does anyone know of a charter bus going to the LSU game. Right now my options are driving or taking Amtrak to New Orleans. We live near Huntsville but leaving from Tuscaloosa or Birmingham is an option.

Do you drive? I ask, because once you get to New Orleans, you'll need additional plans.

We have a hook up for a bus from NO to Baton Rouge round trip for the game. Just really interested in getting to NOLA without the long drive in a car.

Amtrak sounds like fun. The Crescent comes through Slidell from Bham & beyond, daily. If you pass through, give me a big ROLL TIDE! :)

Time wise, the car ride and train ride would be 'bout the same. Actually, if you have a reliable ride, it may be cheaper and quicker by car, especially for more than one person.

If you are going on Amtrak, book early for the best rates. I was undecided on booking from Charlottesville to Chicago, and the longer I waited, the higher the price went. And if you don't mind spending the big bucks for a room on the train, DO IT! Roll Tide, A'ight!

We're in BHM but half the family is in Red Stick and New Orleans. On one trip down there my young son was really into trains so my wife took him on Amtrak. They had a terrible time. She's not a wuss - the train had run out of water along with most food products. That and other factors made it not worthwhile even to an open-minded little train nut.

That said, if you go and they let you bring a cooler and all, I can't see it being that bad.

I was able to take a small cooler on board with a few iced down liquids. I also wore a hunting vest with many pockets that held a variety of nutritious and not so nutritious snacks. That being said, the ride was better than the bus, but you still never know how the seat next to you will be filled. If you don't mind the extra cost...GET A ROOM! You won't regret it. And...enjoy the game.
Roll Tide, Roll...A'ight!:BigA:
