The Conestoga Steak House has to be one of my all time favorities, although I haven't eaten there in eight years. I undestand they dropped their affiliation with the franchise so the changed the name to the Ox Yoke Steak House & Grill. Its one of the best!

I also have never been to the Green Lantern south of Montgomery, Is it good? I have heard it is also one of the best. Help me out.

I plan to go soon to the Calico Kitchen in Marion.

Steakhouse

Have never heard of it. Years ago, we used to have a "Steak & Ale" here in Mobile that was delicious. If I had to chose, I'd say our best steakhouse is Ruth's Chris. While the steak melts in your mouth, the price eats into your wallet! ;)

Yea

Ruth's is great, but I only go there when someone else is paying for it or it's a real special occasion.
I was really talking about places in Ala that are great, but may be dives as well.
Thanks,

There is an Ox Yoke Steak House on 231 going into Wetumpka. They have pretty good food. Is that the one your referring to?

Went to the Green Lantern several years ago. It was very good. Would like to go again.

Stepping into the Wayback Machine: Nick's in the sticks(Eutaw).

Does anyone know if it's still in business?

Nick's in the sticks is still open, even though Nick died a couple of years ago. It is on the Eutaw highway, but it's in Tuscaloosa. Best filet I've ever had.

ddsmit: there used to be a very good steakhouse in Pensacola. I just can't remember the darn name -- but I know its been there for years. Help?

There's a place in Prattville called Buck's that has pretty good steaks. They have a seasoning called buckshot that they put on thier steaks to give them a little extra flavor. Nothing fancy just good food.

Thanks for the update, Hoot30. 'Preciate it.

Dale's (where the sauce is from) in Florence is the best in the state, hands down.

I was up there with some family and friends for the baseball playoffs a couple years ago and we went to Dale's after the game. We walked away unimpressed.
