Question: Govt. Shutdown? Do you care?

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

The national media will cream bloody murder that the Republican-controlled Congress has closed down the government.
In the 1980s, the same national media screamed that the Republican President had shut down the government.
Apparently, according to the national media, the government is simply entitled to the money, not the tax-payers, and whichever branch of the Federal government does not wish to spend more money is to blame for any budget conflict.
As for me, I welcome a government shut down, within limits, but the national media with savagely attack Republicans for any shut down.

While that will certainly happen I don't think it will matter. If it is tied to this crazy spending and Obamacare the majority of voters will back the GOP this time. This isn't 1995 and the media isn't what it used to be. There is far more information out there now. This past election showed the mood of the electorate and it wasn't behind what this Democratic leadership is pushing.

Yep I remember how awful it was last time this happened, what for almost 2 weeks? People were going without oxygen, food, water, shelter... you know all the basic necessities of life. It was awful I remember the tens of thousands of people that were starving in the streets. The tent cities that built up over night in NYC's Central Park was a particular eye sore. I remember hundreds of babies were abandoned and thousands leapt to their deaths... It was a dark day in our history!

Seriously, bring it on. Do you know how unnecessary most of the federal govt is to our freedoms. I love freedom... I love America... I don't love the government. The sooner they go away or are properly restrained to an 1870s type role the more free and prosperous my nation will be! In the words of Libertarian Party Head, Mark Hinkle, "the Republicans and Democrats would threaten to shut down the government (in regards to the prospects of a Libertarian agenda being pursued), we'd say 'so'".
