This quote comes from a prospect that recently enjoyed an in-home visit from CMS and CDU:

"The one thing that just really stood out to me was that they never say anything about other schools," he said. "They didn't try to tell me bad things about other schools and tell me why I shouldn't go there. They just stuck to Alabama and why I should go and be a part of their team.

"A lot of schools will try to make the other one's you're looking at sound bad and they just didn't do it like that. That meant a lot to me and I appreciated that"

Sadly, most kids will not even notice the difference.

Shula does it for the right reasons, but it will not add significantly to our recruiting totals, IMO...

So who was the impressed lad?
Let's just say that its one of our top targets from the state of Georgia. I, too, am impressed with the approach... will pay dividends somewhere down the line (not with all but with some who value integrity).

But the ones that do notice the difference, those are the kind of young me to build a team with. The old saying, "It takes one to know one", well it takes character to recognize character.

thanks for sharing that tidbit...even if only a handful of recruits recognize that our coaches talk of Bama and not bash the other schools it is worth it if it increases our chances with those few young men....too bad more schools can't follow suit....

I would venture to say that, even if it does not make a difference with the kids, it is STILL the right thing to do and I am proud of a staff that believes AND behaves that way regardless!

The kids might not notice, but I'll bet the parents will.

Exactly, and even if it only makes the difference with one great kid each year, it's worth it because that kid will never be a problem off the field.

I'd rather have a high character coach at Bama and never win another SEC championship, than have some of the weasels found at more than a few SEC programs. I could list them, but they're easy to identify. RTR.
