I said that in the game thread before we ran that play. Coaches chase points and more times than not it comes back to bite them. The irony? Had we kicked the Xp instead of going for 2, the TD puts us up by 9, and it’s game over.

something is off with JM ... he is not his usual smiling, cool on sideline. something is def bothering him. mayb its an injury they havent revealedAnd that right now is what bothers me with JM. Not not necessarily the performance on the field as much as the body language on the sidelines at times. Over on the bench looking disengaged from what is going on when the defense is on the field. And it certainly wasn’t lost by the guys doing the Vandy game last week.
Lank, might be feeling the weight of Heisman expectations (his own) or maybe he's frustrated with the team’s lack of cohesion. He's always balanced being a great team player with being himself, but perhaps he's realizing he can't win games alone. Only Lank knows for sure.something is off with JM ... he is not his usual smiling, cool on sideline. something is def bothering him. mayb its an injury they havent revealed
Stop saying Lank, it’s lameLank, might be feeling the weight of Heisman expectations (his own) or maybe he's frustrated with the team’s lack of cohesion. He's always balanced being a great team player with being himself, but perhaps he's realizing he can't win games alone. Only Lank knows for sure.
The best solution for that kind of funk is to focus on each play, give 100% effort, and let the results come naturally. He’ll be fine.
It was great to hear analysts say he could do well in the draft. Seeing guys like Bo Nix succeed in the NFL (hopefully keeping it up for my Broncos) gives me hope that Lank can do more in the NFL than just be a practice squad RB.
Hah hah no way. I enjoy it too much.Stop saying Lank, it’s lame
It seems as if you’re using it as a nickname specifically for Milroe. If you’re doing it to poke fun at the whole movement, then I misunderstood.Hah hah no way. I enjoy it too much.
No, I mean it for him.It seems as if you’re using it as a nickname specifically for Milroe. If you’re doing it to poke fun at the whole movement, then I misunderstood.
yes sir! Gotta tight up few things and i think we'll be okay. They got stops AND they generated 4 turnovers. It looks ugly missing tackles. Looks worse when you can't get off the field to open the half and let a team milk half the quarter and score on you. Two weeks in a row now, my guy #11 has had a RB run straight through his chest at the goalline and take him 4 yards into the endzone.
BUT....for as bad as they looked, again, they were opportunistic and gave our offense the ball back. Gotta be able to do something with it
That was 3 plays. The issue is all the others that yielded 23 first downs and 374 yards against a team that managed 3 points against our former DC who we complained about regularly.No. I literally picked the last drives where we either GET A STOP and WIN, or FAIL to get a stop and LOSE.
Transitive property doesn't work in football, we all know this. That was 3 plays. The issue is all the others that yielded 23 first downs and 374 yards against a team that managed 3 points against our former DC who we complained about regularly.
Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile…but yet they sealed the game against GA on potential GW drive…and today stopped the 2 pt conversion, then have to go right back on the field and stop them from MID FIELD from moving the ball 10 yards into FG range…
an offense that is just a few yards per game from being in the bottom half of the SEC in ypgBoth things can be true in that the defense isn’t very good at the moment and Milroe is still the leader of a very boom/bust/inconsistent offense.
so here's the thing with the OL. I don't know where the blame should go, but on a lot of those it was not on the individual players (both OTs) getting beat. We were sliding the protection AWAY from their strongest pass rushers all the time. Either the QB or the OC (more than likely the QB as he sees that alignment moreso than the OC) was making that call AND it's likely what they were coached to do so I don't even know if it's on them. Any way you look at it, that's just ridiculous. At this point the Milroe hate is a sickness. Especially if you blame the offense and not the defense. Yes Milroe had a bad game today but the o line was horrible too and just let free rushers on a few plays. Not one position except maybe d line played well today. But the Milroe hate is kind of sick now.
well, my take is that we played ok on O until teams had some film on what we are doing, and once there was enough out there, teams have figured out what to 'show' defensively to get the result they want and we can't/haven't adjusted past that. Our play progression, right now, is way to simple and it's too easy to show a look to get us into a certain play and then do something else. Also, Milroe had his best quarter and a half in crimson against UGA, but since then, has regressed back to a lot (not all, but a lot) of the bad habits from last year.Things may look bad for Alabama football program, but I really believe that people are overreacting just because of two bad games.
We do have lot of issues on Defense, but I think we will start trending in positive direction at some point between now and December. Bama football played six games so far, and now is the time to see the trends on both side of the ball.
Offensive Game log:
In the first four games, we were throwing 2 plus touchdowns. In the last two games... two touchdowns since then.
That tells me we're lending on running the ball in redzone more with Milroe. Run it until it doesn't work anymore. I don't like this. On the other hand, it opens up the door for different plays in redzone in upcoming games. (I hope so)
Penalties has been cut back significantly on offense which is good! Turnovers: four in the last two games. 2 fumbles, 2 interception. While OL has got better, they really have to learn to adjust the pocket scheme based on the blitzes they're seeing from opposing defense. I'm starting to wonder if Milroe is good at recognizing blitzes or he is limited in what he can change at the snap.
Offense has to get back to what they were doing against Wisconsin and Georgia by playing fast and loose. Part of that is fixing the protection scheme. Getting Law back will help as well.
Now, let's turn to defense:
Passing defense isn't bad at all. The issue is more of tackling/ and hitting the right holes. Do that, and We reduce their chance moving up the field.
Rushing Defense- Ya'll gotta realize we're holding team to 3.3 yard per carries. That's not bad at all. They're doing decent job, but they're exposing themselves to long runs at times... and this goes back to what I said: Tackling and hitting the right holes. This falls on DL/LB issues. This is not scheme issues. This is personnel issues.
Now is not the time to call for Wommack to be fired. This doesn't make sense. I think this win last night is definitely going to help the player's confidence knowing that they're fighting and seeing things that went wrong last night.... I think it'll make everyone to tight up their game even more.
Things are not that bad as it look.
This is legit - there is a book on how to stop Alabama's offense and a book on how to beat the defense. Same exists for every team at this point in the season. Coaches know this and are supposed to mix up looks to make it harder.well, my take is that we played ok on O until teams had some film on what we are doing, and once there was enough out there, teams have figured out what to 'show' defensively to get the result they want and we can't/haven't adjusted past that. Same on D. We did ok until there was enough film to diagnose, and now teams know exactly what to do to get what they want against the D and where they can exploit. Add to that we keep having to put guys like Morgan into the rotation who are not ready yet and we only have one viable 3 down capable 'wolf' (Russaw) who has been pretty dinged up and it's just not working
Yeah a prevent from having an opportunity to WIN!Our defense is a “prevent” defense….we use it the whole game.
