Question: Has Georgia Really Gotten That Much Better?

I heard Matt Millen, among others, on expn singing the praises of UGA. How they've gotten a lot better since those early season beat downs by S.C. and BSU..... and I grimace. This is still Georgia we're talking about. This is Mark "Real Nice Guy" Richt we're talking about. I guess it's just part of the game build up and hype and all but it just seems silly. They were spinning the LSU vs Arkansas game the same way about how..... "Arky's gotten much better since that early season beat down by Bama ......bla, bla, bla....
Does anyone here really think UGA has a chance against LSU?

UGA is an emotional team - if they get ahead like Arky did, they'll have a shot. If they get behind and LSU is grinding them, they'll have no chance.

But yah, LSU is beatable. UGA will have to play a perfect game, but it could happen.

Highly unlikely, though. I predict something like the Arky score.

The SEC East this year reminded me of two little boys about to fight on the play ground...One scared and the other proud of it! No team acted as if they wanted to go to the SECCG this year.

UGAly gets blown out in the 2nd half in similar fashion to Ark.

IMHO, the best thing about UGAly in the SECCG is that they will keep CMR another year. (Hopefully) that keeps Smart on with us for another year!

If Georgia defeats LSU, Boisie State fans are going to come out of the woodwork just like termites!

Absolutely.... I just think the only team that can beat them wears Crimson

Oh my Lawd! Please don't let that happen. Just the thought of those whining BSU fans makes me break out. They're being ridiculous now. Just think if UGA beats LSU........... but it won't happen..

I think UGA is pumped up after winning 10 straight after their first two losses. Not knocking UGA, but I would rank them as the 4th best team in the SEC, behind Arkansas, and you see what happened to Arky against the two best. The East division don't even compare to the West, and UGA was fortunate this year that they didn't have Bama, LSU or Arky on their schedule.

LSU wins.

The thing about Georgia is, winning cures a lot of ills. Even if it's bad teams you are beating. Georgia has always had talent, but a complete lack of discipline in the program has kept them from breaking through to the elite class of the SEC. It imploded over the last couple of years where they were even losing to teams that had less talent than them. But there's a catch to beating a bunch of bad teams. It eventually catches up to you when you play a good team. LSU is a great team. And I haven't seen a whole lot over this season that says Georgia has corrected it's lack of discipline issues.

I think unless LSU goes into the game all fat and content, they'll beat Georgia pretty badly.

They are a middle of the road SEC team. It is precisely why Boise St. beat them. The only reason they are playing in ATL is because someone in the East had to suck the least. LSU will shred that DL to absolute pieces. Look for AM to be running for his life...a lot.

GA is a solid team, but there are not as good as their record suggest. They are the product of a very weak division plus not having to play any of the ACTUALLY good teams of the SEC.

Before the season started, the talking heads in Atlanta all said Georgia could lose their first two games and then go on a win streak up to the Florida game. The rationale was that South Carolina and Boise St. were the 2 best teams they would play and the 6 between those games and Florida were extremely winnable. The good fortune along the way was that Florida and Auburn were not very good. Therefore, what they have been able to accomplish has not been terribly surprising. As a matter of fact, had Georgia lost again to Florida and been out of the SECCG, I think there would be a strong contingency to replace Richt.

UGA is somewhat better than they were early in the season. That combined with a very easy schedule lead them to the SECE title. The big win against auburn fooled a lot of experts, but the performance against KY showed how little they have actually improved since their opening two losses.

They are better, just not LSU/Bama better. I see this one getting ugly in 2nd half, something like 48-14 ugly.
