Have we seen the last of Brodie ?

First, let me say that I have tremendous respect for Brodie Croyle and his family. He played hurt most of last year and has been a great team leader.Like many of you, I questioned why he was still in the game even before he was hurt. That is something that only Brodie and Coach Shula and his staff know for shure. I"m sure they are doing some second guessing today,as anyone would. As injury prone as Brodie is and his tendancy to not avoid contact, I was concerned he woudn't last the season anyway.
My question is this. If Marc Guillon goes on to have a great season ,he will be heading into spring as #1. Do any of you honestly see Brodie re-habbing and beating him out? Have we seen Brodie throw his last pass?

I support this team first. If Marc has a great season, he should be the QB next year. If I am not mistaken, he has 3 years of eligibility left (including this season), to Brodie's two. After this year, you would be asking Brodie to take over for a year then hand the role back to Marc for his senior season.

If Marc plays well, he should get to keep his job to help stabilize this program for the next three years, IMO...

If Brodie is a Junior and cannot get a medical redshirt, doesn't that mean he only has 1 year of eligibility left?

Note:

Never mind. I forgot about his redshirt year. Duh!

Brodie has had a regular redshirt year I believe, but may be eligible for a second redshirt year because of the injury. Can anybody confirm that, or is it wrong?
If Marc comes on strong this fall, Brodie may have a tough time wrestling the starting job back next season.

The math...

seems to be very close. Also, the NCAA can waive that, under appropriate circumstances, whatever that might mean. Also, the odds of a Bama player getting waiver might be kind of dim. However, if Brodie comes back healthy, he'll win the job back, just like he did this year. The reason is that his talents are extraordinary. He makes throws that other QBs can only dream of. Regardless of eligibility, the coaches normally play the better player. A healthy Brodie is better than a healthy Marc - that's just a fact of life...

Croyle can get a medical redshirt

Hi I'm a Texas Longhorn, but my parents are Bama alumni and I grew up a fan so I follow the Tide. sorry to hear about Croyle, but yes he can get a medical redshirt, just like Oklahoma's Jason White did after he tore his knee in the Bama game two years back. Good luck to you all next week vs. Arkansas. The Texas game isn't until 7:00 so I'll get to watch the Tide on CBS for the first time this year.

I think you're right. Jason White at OK is actually in his sixth year due to a redshirt and a medical redshirt.

I asked my dad about Brodie getting a medical redshirt and he said Brodie's played too many quarters this year to qualify, so I thought he could and my dad thinks he can't. Anyway we need the input of one of the peeps on the board that kn9ows how many quarters a player can play in a season and still get a medical redshirt to answer this question for us.

I think he can get a waiver... not sure about the medical redshirt. BTW, while Brodie is a GREAT quarter back, I know of one who was not at all flashy with the pass, who we all berrated game in and game out, even with a NC... who am I talking about?

I think BayouTider posted the exact rules in another thread...

And it was (I think)..."2 games or 20% (whichever is greater)" of a "normal" season...so if that is correct I think he qualifies for a med red! Let's hope so...

RTR!

---- is disagree with the statement that a healthy Brodie is better than a healthy Marc. i don't think any of us has seen enough of Guillon in game to make that decision. He darn sure looked good during the few snaps he got in the WCU game.

You don't have to have the strongest arm in the world to be the best QB in the game.

You have to be smart, semi-athletic and have decent arm strength and B+ accuracy. oh, did i mention that you have to be SMART?!?!?! your QB must be the smartest player on your team. if not, you are asking for trouble. i'm not sure, but i think Marc is a pretty sharp young man upstairs so...

While I hope you are right about Marc, I doubt that he is better than Croyle. If that were the case, do you not think that CMS would have had him as the starter instead? He may be a suitable replacement, sure, but he probably is not as good as Brodie.
