Last week I asked you why Bama wasn't recruiting a kid from Homewood High School, but I couldn't think of his name. It is Brandon Thornton and he is an amazing RB. He is 6'0 about 190 and last week in the first round of the playoffs he ran for 297 yards while having 101 degree temperature and the flu! This kid is quickly is simply amazing. By the way, he runs a 4.4 40 and runs north and south like a guy 220 lbs, has great vision and amazing balance! He will gain weight. What's the scoop?

Not The Tide but Brandon Thorton is 5-10, 182 and runs 4.62.

Brandon has been to the Alabama camp. The negative on him is he lacks that burst of speed the coaches are lookin for in a tailback.

With only 19 scholarships and Alabama looking at what may be more highly ranked backs or players who can play more than one position, a player like Brandon Thorton may not get an offer. Alabama has made offers to 4 RB so far, Markus Manson, Andre Hall, Darius Walker and Dennis Void. All are as big or bigger then Brandon Thorton and much faster.

Been to 3 games for my Vestavia Rebs this year. Got to see JP Wilson for Hoover...the kid threw for 400 yrds, and could have thrown for more if not for alot of dropped balls. He never threw a bad pass. As for Thorton, I got to see him two weeks ago, and I must boast that my rebels pretty much kept him in check. I say that he didnt score any touchdowns. He still ran for 170, just no touchdowns. He is a hoss, or so it seemed. But I didnt see the break-away speed a college recruit should have. He had 2 big runs over 50 yards and got chased won form behind both times. That being said, if he came to bama, I would be glad to have him and I know he could have success in Crimson.

Ditto what Bayou said.

This staff is pushing for speed. Shula is using his experience from the NFL and requires certain positions to have speed. We are being very picky this year on RBs.
