Hey all.........I found this link to a website that sells Logo'd sportswear, and I had typed in "Crimson Tide" to see if I can find a Grey Windbreaker with the Bama Logo for my Dad.......

alabama crimson tide windbreaker - Google Product Search

On the first page shows various high schools around the state that use "Crimson Tide" as a Mascot....Does anyone know how many HS Teams use us? There are 9 on this page alone....

I think it's rather cool, actually.......because when they use Tigers or Bulldogs or Wildcats or Bears, etc.....who knows their inspiration........but when it's Crimson Tide, you KNOW where it's coming from............very cool!

Back before Millport and Kennedy merged and became South Lamar, Millport was the Junior Tide or something like that, with the crimson and white uniforms like Bama`s.

I went to Bay High School in Panama City, Fl. The school mascot is the Tornadoes, but our marching band is "The Million Dollar Band". I believe the name was changed around '70 by a former UA MDB member who became our music director

That's interesting. It would also be interesting to know when each school was founded and if they were the Crimson Tide from the outset or if they changed their nickname to the Crimson Tide, I'd be willing to bet a small sum that either way, they became the Crimson Tide during or after the Coach Bryant era.

Up here in Elkhart, Indiana at Elkhart Memorial High School we've got the Elkhart Memorial Crimson Chargers but their Swim team is known as the Crimson Tide!? lol

There is one here in Oregon also, Glencoe Crimson Tide in Hillsboro Oregon..

Mascot

Glencoe's mascot is the Crimson Tide. The official Crimson Tide icon is known as The Tide Guy, and is portrayed as an angry wave with fists. The Tide Guy is on nearly all official school mailings, and is often placed in the yearbook as if he were a student. The official mascot at football games and selected other events is Captain Crimson. Captain Crimson was adopted in the early beginnings of Glencoe High School, because The Tide Guy would have proved difficult to accurately portray in costume form. The Captain Crimson uniform consists of spandex tights, a spandex long-sleeved shirt with 'Captain Crimson' emblazoned on the front, a pair of crimson basketball shorts, a crimson and black cape, and large prosthetic muscles. The position is ceremoniously handed down through student council to an unusually enthusiastic incoming senior.

Picayune, MS high school or Pearl River Central which is in (obviously) Pearl River county MS, one of them is the maroon tide, I believe. I'm not sure exactly what that is. Somebody from close to New Orleans probably knows. A lot of Katrinaites went to Picayune a few years ago.

There are a number of High School teams that wear similar uniforms to Alabama. Hartselle High ironically is called the Tigers, but their uniforms are crimson, not red, and have the same stripping and lettering. Guntersville and Deshler also have similar uniforms to Bama's.

Not the same but, Dobyns Bennett in Kingsport Tn is the Tribe and they do the Roll Tribe.

My kids high school (Catholic) are the "Fighting Irish"..guess where that came from...but they have this Irish pride thing going and they cheer "Roll Pride Roll" at all the games.
