That's what it is going to take to beat LSU. Forget finesse, let's line up and see who is tougher. I think it is Bama. Our team last year was down to the bottom of the barrel far as depth and personnel and we still should have beaten LSU (thanks Bobby Gaston). To be honest, our O-line is not much worse than last year. What we lack in experience up front, we make up for in the backfield. Last year against LSU, we took a bunch of knives to a gun fight. This year is much different. I'm tired of hearing about how inept our offense is. Let's line up, get in their chops, and prove all the naysayers wrong. GO BAMA!!! ROLL TIDE!!!

I agree. I think this will be a hard-fought physical game, like the TN game was. I expect to see a heavy dose of the running game early by BAMA to get Darby/Johns/Coffee going and to establish the line of scrimmage. I think if we get the run game going the pass plays will be there, but I look for it to be smash-mouth. Hope we ram it down their throats. Roll Tide!

Last year was last year. You talk about how Alabama is not the same team as last year and how they should have won last year, but guess what, LSU is not the same team as last year either. I would venture to say that LSU's offense is more stable than it was last year when LSU was playing musical QBs and despite what you may have seen against ASU and UT, LSU's defense is probably better now than it was last year. And I agree with you, Alabama is better than last year. But saying since your better this year and should have won last year doesn't equate to winning this year. It will be a great game where both teams hit each other in the mouth. It will come down to who is the first to flinch. And by the way, I don't agree that Bama should have won last year, but that is a whole 'nother discussion.

I'm just glad that for the first time in years the LSU game outcome is even a question, the last two years Alabama was such an underdog nobody payed any attention to the game.

On paper Alabama should lose, but on paper this team should have lost already.

Calm down man, don't be so defensive. First of all, I never said because Bama is better this year and they should have won last year equates a win for this year. What I did say is that Bama was outmanned last year which had a huge influence on the game in the 4th quarter. I also did not say LSU is not a better team this year. What I did say, is that Bama matches up much better this year than last year which in turn gives a better chance to win the game. LSU is a great team. Russell is becoming a good, solid QB and the defense has played better the last two weeks. But, you have to admit LSU has been suspect on defense against quality opponents. Also, the teams that they were suspect against did not have the defense to hold LSU out of the endzone in key situations. Yes, they played FL well, but FL gave 35 to Vandy last week. Are you saying Vandy's offense is better than LSU's.

Well with LS(?) being the so-called 'ROCK' and 'BAMA being the 'PAPER' if ya remember the old hand game, 'PAPER' covers 'ROCK' and thus WINS...

This line is a lot worse than last years. Last year teams didn't have to worry about any threat of a passing game. this year they do.

I agree . . . this weekend's contest will be old-fashioned SMASHMOUTH football.

Given our o-line's pass protection problems, I expect us to favor the run. The coaching staff has done a good job this year of limiting KD's carries to keep him fresh throughout the season. Now's the time to cash in some of those chips.

Auburn's Irons got over 200 yards against LSU. I expect KD to have a great week!

A scared dog always barks

and LSU fans have been doing a lot of barking about our lack of offence and our over rated defense. All I know is what the scoreboard says at the end of every game and win or lose this year has been incredible for Alabama.
You can throw all the stats out the door. You can howl like a mad dog on a chain in front of a Baton Rouge trailer park, you can whoop it up on TV, radio
and in every bar from here to swamps but it won't change a thing. LSU can't beat Alabama unless Alabama lets them. Gosh, do I sound like a UT fan???
Wash my mouth out... LSU has NEVER been to BDS like it will be on Saturday and my niece who is a student there tells me they kids are ready to make some noise. It will be LOUD, louder than LSU has ever experienced and watching Russell when things get loud is a joy to behold for an oppossing team. He gets rattled and over throws or under throws or just throws ---
I am excited, cautious but hopeful for the outcome to be our finest day and for the Seniors on this team....You will be so missed and never forgotten for the trials and tribulations you've had to endure. RTR

Everyone is upset because the QB is getting hit more, but at the same time we are throwing it more which provides more opportunities for sacks. In twelve games Bama threw the ball 155 times. This year, in nine games they have thrown it 146.

My only concern with that is, the o-line hasn't done a good job of run blocking either. In the first few games, where we were pass blocking better, they still weren't opening up any rushing lanes. Look at our struggles on third and short throughout this year. Run and pass blocking have both been suspect this year.

No, Vandy's offense is not better than LSU's offense but it is good. LSU scored 21 on Florida, but they could have easily scored more points had they held on to the football. Florida never stopped LSU. LSU stopped LSU with unforced turnovers that weren't caused by UF as much as a lack of LSU concentration or something. Luckily, since that game it appears LSU has taken care of those problems (1 TO in 3 games). Sorry if I seemed defensive. I thought you had a good post just wanted to point out that LSU is not the same team as last year either. Looking forward to a war on Saturday. :)

The crowd won't be a factor except for the first quarter. Then panic, disbelief, despair, and agony will take over the mood of the Bammers. LSU ROLLS...

Agony, despair, panic, and disbelief will take over because our defense will get arrested for going medievil on LSU. The SEC will call in federal troops to protect the LSU offense. Is there such a thing as a feline hate crime? :):):):):)

Already Change In The Air

Some of the knowing talking heads are already changing their minds on the LSU favorite line, of course the line is set in Vegas by Vinnie and the Sharks so who cares, but it is interesting to see.
Im smiling tonight remembering back to the first of the year when Im sure LSU had this game down as a solid W on their schedule, my how the fates have changed and if any LSU fan is reading this, please know nobody in T-Town thinks it will be easy for us to win this one, but you guys aint coming in on a Mardi Gras flost, hell come to think of it Mardi Gras began in the Americas in a little ole Alabama city called Mobile....guess a lot of good things begin In Alabama...like strings of SEC championships and National championships. But we don't want to live in the past, 2005 has been a great year and all the hard work has paid off for Coach Shula, we put 25K in the bank with game changing performances, that was "game changing" you know the kind that wins games.
Sure we haven't traded paint with Auburn yet, but I think we could do better than trouncing up and down missing field goals all over the place. Going to be a great game, and by the by the student section never sits, never stops and never forgets. Its personal with them. RTR
