I posted some comments on hookem.com. Very respectful, after all it is their site. They don't care for bama fans there. Now I want cody, rolo and company to destroy these jerks. I would like to see saban run up the score, of course he won't, but I'd still like to see it. There may be good texas forums but this is not a good one. STAY AWAY.

You have to understand how the Texas football fan's brain works. Texas believes everything revolves around Texas. Texas is the biggest of everything. Dallas Cowboys, Longhorns, old Houston Oilers, the current Texans. The old Southwest Conference was mostly the state of Texas, if I recall correctly, and Arkansas. One of my old Army buddies is a big Horns fan. You cannot be around him when he gets started. Sounds like a Barner.

My advice - stay away from their boards. Their fans who post on those boards will make you hate them like you hate Notre Dame. They are not just cocky, they are disrespectful...

I think the primary reason any team ever wants to beat the crap out of another team is because crappy fans. Nothing makes you want to kill a team like jerk fans. Every team has them, but you can't evaluate their whole fanbase by them.

Having said I also hope we beat the crap out of them. I'll be on every Longhorn board I can find. The greatest joy of the victor is to listen to what excuses his opponent comes up with. That or getting insulted after a huge victory. Getting insulted always feels great when you're the best. Who wants to bet that there will be a couple of "Can you believe Bama pushed school back?" forums to try to take some cheat shots at us?

Can't wait. Haters...we love you.

No one hates Texas like a Razorback hates Texas ;) Even the aTm is a different kind of hate for Texas. :)

You guys are going to the wrong board. Check out Hornfans.com. It's the only one I go to. Good discussions and it doesn't tolerate rude behavior. There are always bad apples in every barrel. Most Texas people are just like most Bama people. Good folks.

The "hook'em site started out pretty good a few days ago, with everything being very respectful between the two fan bases. Now all of a sudden they don't want us to discuss football with them without going to a smack board. It just don't make sense. If you change boards, you're not talking to the same people that were in the discussion.

Maybe I'll try Hornsfans, but prolly just stay here at home.

I think this is the one that I went to the other day that I thought was very decent. (I think, can't remember) It is showing the "404 Error" for me, though.

As far as one of the other ones that I went to... it was horrible. I read one thread about Greg McElroy on that forum and I thought it was absolutely disgusting.

Actually, I already saw a blog on that very topic the other day on AOL. Apparently, we care more about our football than our education.

Had a barner friend post a story pertaining to this on Facebook, so I replied with "It's a shame Auburn fans will never get to see the team they cheer for play for a National championship :( ". Of course he deleted my response and replied with this extremely long reply/rant about AU's 2004 season, how Alabama should be ashamed for canceling classes, and that if Auburn did, he would be ashamed of them too...Less than 2 minutes later, he had deleted the story from his Facebook page. I didn't even get a chance to remind him again that Auburn would never have the chance to cancel classes.

If you don't like their boards, don't go to their boards.

We've got some intelligent Texas fans who are currently posting right here on Tidefans, and they know how to conduct themselves.

Why go anywhere else, unless you're looking for trouble.

Having seen some posts by our fans on unmoderated sites, I don't think Texas has the market cornered. I will just stay away from their boards except to lurk and smirk.

I will say you should try hornfans.com . I know that shaggybevo is way too crazy. It is pretty much anything goes over there. Hornfans is pretty restrictive which makes me a bit crazy but it isn't too bad. I have never been to hookem.com but the whole "you have to post in the right section" is pretty weak.

Its the same either way. A Texas fan should not come on this board expecting to see a bunch of Alabama fans expecting to lose and likewise with a Tide fan visiting a Texas board. Neither fan base will be stroking any ego but their own.

I am on the hookem board a bunch and can tell you that for the most part, its the most respectful board out there. We have a ton of good Texas fans over there but like any other board, there are the few idiots. I have seen a good number of Alabama fans on our board who were respectful, friendly and could talk football with the best.

What the editor was trying to do was to keep a section where Longhorn fans could talk about Longhorn football without some jerk trolling in and turning it into disrespectful garbage. He has said that he doesn't mind Alabama fans posting there as long as they are friendly and respectful to the board's rules. The issue that comes up is that when two fanbases are talking about a game that will be played, not everyone is going to agree and some people throw a fit when their team is not worshipped whether it be the visiting fan or the fan that has been on their own board awhile.

We have a section that is almost a free for all where you can talk as much crap as you want. He wasn't trying to keep Alabama fans off the board, just trying to keep arguments from happening in a place that is supposed to be used solely for pleasent football chatter.

It is not much different from this site. In fact, at their cores, these two sites are as similar as any two I've seen up to this point.
