not that i'm complaining but how is Alabama doing so well in recruiting this year i mean is it coach Saban that is causing recruits to flock to alabama is it the fact that the effects of the NCAA probation from 2002-2003 is coming to a end or is it a combination of both. i went to rivals.com and i was stunned to see Alabama in 4th place nationally at the moment in recruiting. I would just like to get some thoughts. i have to say saban doesn't mess around when it comes to recruiting. Roll tide roll

IMO, much of the credit can be given to CNS, but not directly. Moreover, IMO, through the staff he put together and the way they recruit. It seems CNS is relentless, but so are the other guys on the staff. I think coach Steele was even the top recruiter in the nation, one year. Also, I think the recruits, like us fans, can feel something BIG and wonderful brewing on the Capstone; and they want to be a part of that.

Coach Saban is a tireless recruiter, there's not much more that needs to be said. He's also assembled a very good staff that are all good recruiters in their own right. You put a guy like that with a staff like that at a place like Alabama and you're going to get tons of recruits, it's just that simple.

Re: how are we doing so well???

With the probation and sanctions over, along with coaching stability, the recruiting was getting better and about to return to normal....BUT....with the reputation, recruiting skills and tireless work ethic of CNS (actually LOVES to recruit) the recruiting has hit overdrive and I believe we will see recruiting results like we haven't seen in a long time.
As mentioned, ALL the assistants are known for being tremendous recruiters.

The kids coming in now know they will be a part of something SPECIAL before they leave the Capstone. Wanting to play at the next level won't hurt either.

I think that more D players will start flocking to Alabama since they know that CNS will utilize them some how.

The prospect of IMMEDIATE playing time, consistent television exposure, a beautiful campus in the nation's premiere football conference, and a top notch coaching staff

i also think saban's prowess on the recruiting trail is the main reason. i think you could also say we've been aided, "ranking" wise, by the state of alabama being loaded with talent this year.

In addition to Saban's recruiting prowess, his experience with sending players to the NFL and his experience coaching in the NFL is also appealing to recruits IMO.

Re: how are we doing so well???

We are still Alabama, and even the kids realize that.

I'm sure their daddys, Uncles, brothers, coaches, teachers, preachers, have told them of our tradition.

Coach Saban past is also a factor.

We have kids in the pros and an MVP with no baggage.

TV a lot.

Freshman are playing.

They are on TideFans.

It's a combination of our vastly improved facilities along with the excitement generated by the hire of CNS and his past college coaching accomplishments. Compound that with the fact that we're still ALABAMA...One of the main traditional powers of CFB and you have a fire stornm on the recruiting front!! Taa Daa!!!

Pretty much everything has been said. Recruits and families and coaches all LOVE our facilities, they are the best for the best. Our coaching staff is AMAZING and they do their homework, they are recruiting three grades right now and they know the names, positions, scores and stats from their Friday night games by kick-off Saturday. We have Coach Saban. These players are shown on the field that they are needed and see that there is potential to start and compete immediately. We have accreditations. Our coaching staff has a plan and that is to be #1 and they know how to get that plan in action and that starts with recruiting and these recruits know that.

Speaking of doing well in recruiting, the Bama b-ball team could possibly end up with the #1 ranked recruiting class this year according to Rivals. Two major recruits are taking official visits to T-town this weekend.

Let's just freakin' dominate every sport! :BigA:

Look at Sabans staff:

He realizes talent can make any coach look good. Every one on the staff is a great recruiter and that is why he picked them. If he was torn between two guys and one has less coaching abilities but was a great recruiter...well, look who got the job.

It's a combination of factors. These kids look at what CNS did at LSU and how he built that program, the tv exposure, the very real possibility of playing early, our facillities are top notch, and we are ALABAMA. These kids know that at the very least they will have an SEC champ ring on a finger or two with the very real possibility of a national title. One other thing is that CNS sent alot of players to the NFL at earlier stops and coached there so he knows how to get players to that next level. I know I haven't mentioned the rest of the staff yet, but they do deserve an equal amount of credit as they are working tirelesly to pull in not just recruits but recruits with seemingly pretty good charachter.

1) School with prestigous football history
2) National Championship winning coach
3) The state is LOADED this year
4) Coach cranks out 1st round NFL picks (4 last year that he recruited)
5) Playing Time available

Why not?
