How close is "too close" for seats at Bryant-Denny

I've been kicking around on e-Bay looking for tickets. Most of the tickets are for the lower sections, but in rows that are really close to the field...row 4, row 6 etc.

So, a question to you folks that have more experience at Bryant-Denny than I, how close is too close to the field, as far as being able to see the action all over the field and over all game day experience.

What's the closest row that you would feel comfortable/satisfied with?

Thanks for the help! :)

I've sat in those lower rows before and didn't enjoy the experience as much as sitting higher. I now have season tickets in the east upper deck and enjoy myself SO much more, especially since my seats are within the covered area so I don't get wet when it rains.

If you want lower bowl seats I'd recommend going for something at least row 15 or higher. Rows 10-14 are ok, but anything lower than row 10 you mostly get a view of the players backsides and more sideline action than actual playing field viewing. You won't be able to really appreciate what's going on on the field and will do a lot of jumbotron replay viewing to get a feel for what's going on.

That being said, I will also tell you not to shy away from those upper decks. Things get rocking up there, although you won't hear the band as clearly or be able to appreciate the goings-on in the student section. If you consider upper deck seats, go for something in the middle areas (between the 30 yard lines) for the most awesome views. You'll see all the plays unfold well, have a great view of the jumbotron, and an awesome view of the surrounding campus/town.

Most of all, have FUN and ROLL TIDE!

Even if you are on the first row, you are still a mile away from the field. (and can't see well over the players on the sideline) I think that's a major flaw in the design of the stadium...it circles WAY out from the field on both sides, then has a very shallow incline for 61 rows. So while higher is better, don't expect to feel like you're on top of the action anywhere in the stadium.

I agree that the upperdeck seats provide some of the best views since they aren't TOO insanely high like LSU, TN or AU.

As a person that sits in row 17, I will say that I wish I was a little higher in the lower section. But since I am on the 50 yard line I am not going to say anything. The only problem we have is when the play comes next to the sideline on our side of the stadium. We cannot see what happens. But I have been told that sitting in row 44 you still have a problem with the sideline on your side of the stadium.
I guess if I had my perfect tickets it would be on the shaded side of the stadium on the 50 yard line about 50 rows up in the lower section.

But hey, anywhere is great when you watch the Tide play.

I agree with Savannah - our seats are on Row 13 and I personally LOVE my seats - I would not go below Row 10. Upper deck seats are great also esp on the West side b/c they have the seat backs; they do not have seat backs on east upper deck.

Good luck and RTR!

I would have to disagree- I have season tickets on row 4. For the most part, I love it. You can see everything the players do, what the coaches do, who's hurt, etc... The major flaw is when the TV camera's on the sled are in front of you. You still can see above the players head, but the players being close to eye level can be distracting. I have requested to move up to 8-10 but no higher.

Oh yeah,I'm also between the 45-50 yrd line.

How can people be selling tickets already? Isn't the time to order tickets in July? The reason I ask is because I need 4 tickets to the BAMA/FLorida game, and I haven't started looking yet, because i thought people wouldn't already have their tickets.

It's a "pre-sale" if you will with the known stipulation that tickets will be shipped as soon as the person receives them from UA. I felt the same way but I did this 2 years ago by selling my UA-OK tickets (I KNOW I'm SORRY but I needed the $$) and everything worked fine. I just kept in constant email contact with my purchaser until I received the tickets and shipped the same.

Check out e-Bay...you'll be surprised! Also, if you want Fla. tickets, get ready to spend some serious jack! :eek2:

Thanks to all you folks for the great feedback! I knew I could count on my Bama brothers and sisters for some solid information!

Yeah, that play happened right in front of me and DD. My first thought was, "Surely, that was not as bad as it looked." I just kept thinking their feet must have gotten tangled or something. But, after a few cell phone calls to people watching on TV, it was confirmed that it was actually worse than it looked.

We were at about the ten yard line, so when the play came to that end of the field (Like the no call on the interference), we could see it well because the players on the sideline aren't allowed to go past the 30. But, once the line of scrimmage got past the 30, all that we could see was the football in the air on pass plays. It was pretty cool to be that close, but I would avoid it if possible.

This past year was about the closest I have ever purchased seats, which we 45 yard line 17th row. They were great seats but anything closer and you may not have such a greats view.

I have been to three games at BD in the last two seasons. My seats were in section S8, which is on the Southwest Corner/Southern endzone, and seats in the upper east deck.

The upper east deck I sat on the 30 yard line, and on the far, far, south row all the way against the wall (section UU, I think).

In all three of these places, I had a good view of the field, with the vast majority of the field in clear view. I have not sat real low, but IMO there is not a "bad" seat at BD.
