Also ....Curious if there is anyone on the board who:

Didnt attend the University - Wasnt born in Alabama - Didnt have parents who attended - didnt marry a grad or former player ?

You have no physical connection to the state / team or school , you simply are a fan.

I am good friends with a fella from Germany who fits all of your criteria. He is actually one of the more passionate Bama fans that I know. Posts on BOL though.

My roots are from Alabama although I have lived all my life in Mississippi. My Dad always loved Alabama and I came to love the Tide at an early age. My Dad told me stories of the coaches and players before Coach Bryant came and I witnessed the largest part of Coach Bryant's leadership of the Tide. My friends always picked at me when a Mississippi team got LUCKY and beat the Tide but I knew deep down that I could return the favor and rib them when next season came around. I went to a Sunday school party the night after MSU beat the Tide 6-3. I thought I would never hear the end of that!

I'm from Milton, Florida (near Pensacola). I didn't attend Alabama, but my grandfather did. He's the only one in the family that attended that I know of. All my family that is in our area have been big Bama fans since then; my father being the biggest fan that I know.

As for me joining Tidefans, I wanted to keep up with recruiting and read about Alabama football in general. There ain't a better place on the internet than Tidefans for that.:BigA:

Raised by a lifelong Crimson Tide dad...all I ever heard was Roll Tide...I've followed suit and raised my children and grandchildren to follow in those beautiful crimson footprints...Roll Tide!

Born at Keesler in Biloxi, didn't attend, didn't marry a former athlete, wife didn't attend. But was raised in Alabama as was most all of my family. So it was a family thing...and in fact no one in our family went to the U of A.

As for Tidefans.com, I found it and enjoyed it so I stayed!

My dad's family all come from the state, but I was born in New Orleans, raised in TX. It was just the team I grew up watching with my dad. I almost went to the law school at UA, but decided to stay in-state. One day, I hope to get a grad degree from UA so I can call myself an alumnus.

I have about 200 relatives in Blount County, and 95% are Barners. But my Dad was not one of them. Pulling for Bama seemed the thing to do.

My dad was born and raised in Tuscaloosa just a mile from campus. He went to Tuscaloosa High School and then graduated from Alabama. After that he moved to Birmingham...married my mom (from Mobile) and 2 years later they had me. I was a Bama Boy from birth and dreamed of playing for the Tide as soon as I was old enough to pay attention to the games on TV. I later graduated from Alabama and have been a professional tailgater ever since...so I still bring an incredible passion to being a fan...and having been at the University between 2000 and 2004...I do not take it for granted.

Good Lord we still have 72 more days!!! :mad2:

Only lived in Alabama while I was attending the University. Found my wife while attending UA. My parents both attended UT (Tennessee) so the fact they paid my way at Alabama proves their love for me...

Born and raised in Houston, TX. Got intrigued after watching the 1993 Sugar Bowl. Visited the campus in 1995 and loved it. Returned for my freshman year in 1997. Met my wife there. Moved to Birmingham after graduation.

Born and raised in Bama, so that narrowed it down to two schools. My parents lived in a real brick home, not in a single wide in a trailer park, so there was only one school left to pull for. I have had a step father, a step brother, an uncle and a sister all attend UA. Idecided I would rather fly in helicopter built by the lowest bidder, over the gulf, in a storm, and then jump into shark infested waters wearing a red wetsuit, so I joined The Coast Guard instead. :biggrin2:

I am looking at UA's on line program though...:BigA:

I was born in Texas. My father and mother were originally from Georgia and my father was a Georgia Tech fan. We moved back to Georgia when I was about three years old. Then in 1961 we moved to Alabama about 30 miles from Auburn and I found myself surounded by some of the most arrogant football fans you can imagine. Well I didn't know a whole lot about college football at the time because my dad, though a tech fan, didn't make a big hooplah about it at home. In 1963 when Georgia Tech withdrew from the SEC, my dad became furious with them and decided that he would pull for Alabama. I thought that was good enough for me and I had had enough of the arrogant Auburn fans. And since they hated Alabama it just seemed like the right thing to do. So I have been an Alabama fan ever since. By the way I was only 9 years old in 1961 and just 11 in '63 when I made my commitment to be a lifetime fan of the University of Alabama. My son was raised in Georgia but he is a lifetime fan of the University of Alabama as well.

Born in New York, moved to Alabama when I was 2 and immediately became Tide fans! In 1964 I am not sure there were any Auburn fans in Huntsville (which is where we moved until I started 1st grade in Homewood).

Anyway, I say Northern by birth, Southern and Alabama Fan by the Grace of God!

Been a Tide fan since '64 (yes even at 2 yrs old I was a Tide fan!) and attended the University after both of my older sisters graduated from there! I do have one hold from my New York roots...I am a life long Yankees fan! I was literally born in Pin Stripes and I have the pictures to prove it!

I was born and raised in and around Jasper, AL. I did not attend the university, nor did my parents. They just taught me how to live right and Bama was a no brainer. Have any of you ever wondered what you would have been like, had you never got turned on to Bama football. Ugghhh, I shudder to think. :eek2:

I was born in Tuscaloosa in 1954 while my Dad was in grad school. I attended the University after I got out of the Army. Graduated in 1978. I have 5 siblings, 4 of whom attended the University, 2 of who also graduated.
