How does the 2024-25 Alabama basketball team compare to some of Bama’s greatest past teams?

The 2024–25 Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team, under the leadership of sixth-year head coach Nate Oats, is currently ranked #3 and holds a 19–3 overall record and an 8–1 mark in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play. Bama’s high-octane offense leads the nation with an average of 90.2 points per game, while maintaining a scoring margin of +11.9. Key contributors include Mark Sears, who was named to the preseason AP All-America team, and Grant Nelson, who recently delivered a standout performance with 25 points and 11 rebounds against Kentucky.

I think Miller, Quinerly, and Bediako won the SEC Championship (2022-23) but they weren't on the 2023-24 Final Four team. The 2022-23 team may have been a better team but Miller's injury slowed him down in the tournament loss to SDSU.

We don't know what the future holds for this year's team, but they certainly have the most talent-laden roster of any Bama team ever. We are legitimately 10 deep when healthy.

And not just deep but balanced. We have the offensive firepower to score and the defensive chops (thinking about Stevenson, Reid and Mo) who can guard opposing players from the 1 to 4 spot.

We'll see what happens. The potential is there, but until another team makes the FF and/or wins a NC, last year's FF team has to be at the top of the list, right?

One of my favorite teams, still can't believe we couldn't make it past SDSU, just too physical for us at the time.

I remember when playing the back nine in the SEC meant you were going back and playing everyone a second time. Now it’s mostly playing teams we haven’t played yet. And the barn twice!!!

I miss the old ten member SEC. Life was simpler then. Now I have to go out and yell at a cloud.

The 1975-76 team will always be my favorite.

In the NCAA Tournament, we almost beat undefeated champ Indiana.

Definitely showing my age. As a kid, loved these guys:

Leon Douglas, T.R. Dunn, Anthony Murray, Ricky Brown and Reggie King with C.M. Newton as HC.

Versus the competition of the day and the interpretation of the rules, I think the 1976 team was the best we ever had.

The 1986 team was close.

CM's and Wimp's teams would flat-out play some defense. For some reason, though, free throws were a never-ending bugaboo.

When playing well, this year's team has the highest ceiling. But it's been too inconsistent on defense and turnovers to win 6 in a row against national competition.

100%, my favorite team, and I'll take some heat for this but go ahead, but I think Reggie King is Bama best basketball player ever, and there are different times now, but I believe he could dominate today like he did then
